We were on the Veendam during the cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago in December 2010, when we encountered what Captain Rick Krombein described as the worst storm he had encountered in 25 years at sea. I can't believe she is still in good shape and steaming ahead!!!

We had no elevator problems in Aug....they repaired one, but it was done and done.

Personal preference as to "two elevators" or "three elevators"...we like the smaller ship since they are easier to walk around to get from one place to another. Larger ships have more to offer...but just more of the same to us.

Great photos Jan. We also prefer small ships, but like the Volendam, which has a midship stairway-elevator bay. We were elevator constrained for most of the VoV, trip, and I can assure you that in the aft bay, the aft, port elevator was inoperative almost the entire trip. Since you folks are very ambulatory( I saw you at the water falls, lol), you can get around the Veendam well. Our favorite, Prinsendam has only two elevators, but she is an exception.
