Offering shore excursions on embarkation day.Is this something new?

We are sailing out of Amsterdam next May onboard the Silhouette. Cruise planner is offering excursions on that day including an 8 hour one that begins at 8:30 a.m. Called Celebrity to confirm and they said it is correct. You would just check in before excursion and they would get you back in time to sail.

I can't imagine anyone really wanting to do an excursion on boarding day...but they will stop at nothing to make more $$$!

 

Yeah, I agree. People would want to get on the ship and explore.

 

Maybe this is for the B2B people -- that would make sense.

Our flight into Barcelona arrives at 8AM. We opted to do a ships excursion tour of the city. They will pick us up at the airport and will end up at the ship where we can check in and board. It beats sitting at the terminal for hours. IMO these tours are really designed for folks like us who are coming in on the red eye flight.
