british betty Posted August 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2015 We have booked our flights independently and therefore have arranged transfers to the hotel and will also book transfer from the hotel to ship, or take a taxi. Does Oceania offer a transfer from ship to the airport that can be reserved whilst on board ?
Rare LHT28 Posted August 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2015 They do but depending on the port a taxi is a lot cheaper If you name the port I am sure people can advise about private drivers as well
british betty Posted August 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Thank you, it's Istanbul. We sailed in and out of Istanbul last year with Celebrity and booked our own transfers, so I was just checking out the Oceania way and can then plan accordingly. ;)
orchestrapal Posted August 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Only once many years ago did we take the transfer offered by Oceania. Waiting for 30 people to board a bus and then get their luggage was not a good ending to an otherwise wonderful cruise. Ever since we only take taxis from the ship or arrange private cars. For us the same goes with excursions.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted August 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2015 I think it's best to book your own car, you depart when you want to depart and you don't have to wait for anyone-period. Rick
no fuss travel Posted August 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2015 Book your own transfer. Oceania's to our hotel from the ship was $250 US, whereas we can book our own for $25 US. There are several companies that will pick you up at the terminal.
seasoned Posted August 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2015 We almost always take a taxi or arrange a private driver ahead of time. Sometimes, though, if you have a later flight, the ship’s transfer by bus offers a city tour before heading to the airport. On a cruise this past April with my young grandson, however, we had an early flight and were fortunate enough to have scads of onboard credits. It is the only time I’ve done it, but I booked a private transfer through the ship. I have to say I was totally impressed! We were met by a port representative as soon as we left the ship. She knew exactly where our luggage was. She rolled the large pieces for us and whisked us through to the waiting luxury sedan. The driver got us to the airport in plenty of time to check in for our flight. It just could not have been better. -Sukey-
Mura Posted August 12, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2015 I realize that you are going from the ship to the airport and are not having a stay in Istanbul, but I wanted to point out to others who will be reading this thread that many Istanbul hotels offer a free transfer to the airport when you have a stay of 3 days or more. british betty Posted August 12, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted August 12, 2015 Thanks everyone. We usually book our own transfers and the company we used last year in Istanbul were very reliable but I just wanted opinions of Oceania services. We'll be making our own arrangements very soon. BenMurphy Posted August 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Hi not sure which port you'll be coming into,is it Istanbul? First try Cab Force (we've used them in the past) they don't take payment until after you have taken the journey. If you are in Istanbul you could also try Efendi travel service €35 from port to airport. And there are always cabs prowling at the port, you could wait and flag one of these. regards Josie
british betty Posted August 13, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Hinot sure which port you'll be coming into,is it Istanbul? regards Josie Yes it's Istanbul. We used SafeAirportTransfer last year and they were very reliable when we sailed with Celebrity. We haven't sailed with Oceania so I was wondering what they offered as we used the Azamara transfer once and it was almost the same price as a private rental. After the usual help from this board, we will be making our own transfer arrangements once again.
hrprof Posted August 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 13, 2015 We will be needing transport from Ship to airport in Singapore - we have come through and stayed in Singapore on a number of occasions but never have been there on a ship. Asked TA about private vehicle - O provided transfer is $350. I've not been thrilled with O provided bus transfer. Does anyone have a recommendation for this transfer? Is taxi service readily available?
seasoned Posted August 13, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Yes, taxis are readily available at Singapore Changi. For pre-arranged private or shared transfers at most destinations, try viator.com or http://www.world-airport-transfer.com/ -Sukey-
hrprof Posted August 13, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Thanks for the info on transfer providers - will give them a look. BTW, my concern is getting to Changi from port, not the reverse.
