CCC3 Posted August 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Does anyone know whether RCI uses Coxen Hole or does it use somewhere else? It just lists "Roatan" on the schedule.

Sat1 Posted August 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Yes, Coxen Hole. For a nice picture, walk thru the Town Center to the parking lot where bus & vans park. Walk toward the ship, makes a great background. Enjoy your cruise.

Merion_Mom Posted September 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2016 How many ships fit at that dock?
rubrrick Posted September 3, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 3, 2016 How many ships fit at that dock? I have only seen one at a time, and thinking about the pier layout, I believe that it only holds one at a time, the way that it is set up. TEXASMUNK Posted September 3, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2016 Cozen Hole is the original port. It can accommodate only one ship. It was built by NCL. It started as only a pier, with nothing at all around it, except for a dance troupe, who performed for tips. They are still there but "commerce" has struck. It is a walking gauntlet of shops now. There is one other pier, built by Carnival, they "named" it Mahogeny Bay. Roatan is considered the 3 rd best scuba locale in the world.

oregoncruisers Posted July 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 9, 2017 My wife and I were there 9 years ago on Voyager, we are considering doing a cruise on Allure, will she dock here??? It will be kind of neat to see what was built, 10 years ago there wasn't much of anything there.
Corby114 Posted July 9, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 9, 2017 The Allure Of The Seas is an Oasis class ship and too my knowledge has never gone to Roatan. The ship is too big to be able to dock at that location. Allure Of The Seas Western itinerary is normally Labadee, Haiti, Falmouth, Jamaica, and Cozumel, Mexico. The water at Roatan, Honduras is very shallow and the channel to the pier is very narrow. Many ships will bypass that stop when the seas are rough and the wind speed is strong. What is now Mahogany Bay (which is used by Carnival Corp lines) used to be a shore excursion from CH. If you are just looking for a simple beach day MB is a great port. But it's a lot easier to get out of CH and see the island if that's what you're wanting to do. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Corby114 Posted October 28, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 28, 2017 An Oasis class ship will have no problem docking at Nassau, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. The channel leading to Roatan, Honduras is very narrow and very shallow. They have to dredge that channel to allow for enough clearance for an Oasis class ship to dock there. When the seas are rough and the wind is strong most smaller ships will bypass that port of call.
