Master Chef's Table, Cellar Master/Sommellier dinner

Has anyone done a Chef's Table or Cellar Master dinner on a 7 day cruise - Nieuw Amsterdam in particular? I have gone to one on a 10 day cruise and loved it and would like to do another on our 7day cruise in Novemeber.

I don't think you will see a Chef's Table on a 7 day cruise, sorry. They told us when we were on the Westerdam that they only do them on longer cruises. I think it needs to be over 10 days. However, nothing wrong with asking to be safe as soon as you get on board. They fill up fast.

The Cellar Master/Sommelier may be offered on a 7 day cruise.

An easy way to tell is to check the PG availability on line. If there is a day without Le Cirque and without PG, then it may well be offered.

They are all usually done well and worth the money IMO.

Could you tell me what "PG" is? Thanks!

I have attended both of these dinners more than once over the years and I do recall attending one on the Nieuw Amsterdam during a 7 day cruise. I don't recall exactly which one.

All were worth the money and time. If you enjoy good food and wine, the special dinners are worthy of considering.

The Chef's Table (dinner) was offered on our 7 day Nieuw Amsterdam cruises. But a couple of times it was cancelled as they did not get enough people to sign up for it.

We have only been able to do the Cellar Master's dinner on longer cruises -- like 21 days. It was not offered on our 10 and 11 day cruises.

The Nieuw Amsterdam also offered the Cabana Dinner -- can't tell you much about as we didn't go it. It is offered on the nights when you are in port until late in the evening and is held in the Retreat area. Ports like Cozumel and San Juan. If it rains it is moved to the Tamarind.

Thank you all. I have a Retreat Cabana so I will look into a Cabana dinner. I checked PG dinners like Kazu suggested and it's available to book every night.

From what KrazyKruiser said, it seems that a Chef's Table could be done if there are enough people. Think I will try and see if I can drum up any interest on my Roll Call.

They did have a Master Chef's Dinner during a 7 day on the Nieuw Amsterdam last December. That was in addition to Le Cirque. There's a minimum number of people required or else it held. If it's something that you'd be interested in, inquire about it as soon as possible after boarding. If you make a reservation and it's not held, you won't be charged.

that's a GREAT idea! We did that on our roll call and we had 7 of us if memory serves and we reserved as soon as we board. That pretty much assured a dinner. I believe the minimum they need is 10 or 12. I think it's 12.

Good luck!

Just because you have a Retreat Cabana does not guarantee that you can book the dinner.

It is first come, first serve.

On the Nieuw Amsterdam the Chef's Dinner was $89 per person and the Retreat dinner was $129 per person.

Do you sign up for Cabana dinner at Pinnacle as well?

Anyone know what makes it $40pp more than Chefs Table dinner?

I have to start saving my on board account bills as I am sure our Master Chef's Table was more than $89.

and does anyone have the DeKuyper(sp) menu? Please post either or both. We like the special dinners.

try googling cabana-club-dinner-Eurodam for the Retreat Cabana dinner.

You'll probably find the other menu too ;)

Do they have the Chef's table on the 14 day cruises on the Prinsendam?

I would think so. As long as they have interest.

They don't advertise this for whatever reason so if people don't ask and if they don't have enough, it doesn't happen.

We were on the Noordam fall of 2014 -- an 11 day and a 10 day. There were only 8 of us for the Chef's Dinner. They usually have 18. The second cruise -- no dinner as not enough signed up.

On our Nieuw Amsterdam spring 2014 -- again it had a limit of 18 -- but there was 19 of us.

The smaller ships limit it to 10 or 12.

For the Cellar Masters dinner which is usually only on longer cruises there is no limit. On the Westerdam it was held in the front part of the Pinnacle Grill and there were 56 of us there.

were not as good as a few years ago but I think it depends on the Cellar master rather than the chef or the cruise line. Wines have been pretty pedestrian and not top of the line as we had before.

We have also noticed that the wines on our more recent cruises are just mediocre as compared to years ago.

And we wish they would change the menu for the Chef's dinner -- getting tired of the same old thing.
