karinad Posted September 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Girls, has anyone had their hair washed, cut and style lately on their cruise. What are the current rates for this service? I hope it doesn't make me faint!

Rare skittl1321 Posted September 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Assuming they have qualified stylists, that doesn't seem too outrageous at all. Not far off what land based salons charge. When I look at their spa services prices I expected much higher salon service prices!

Jesziegler Posted September 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Those prices are not that bad. I pay more where I live for a hair cut and style. Was thinking of getting a up-do for our elegant night photos.

I guess that $59. isn't to outrageous for the cruise ship, but certainly more then I ever paid. Yes, it does depend on how good the person is on whether it's worth it. Add the tip onto it and it's very pricey! Do they have a set tip that gets added onto your S&S Card?
Rare skittl1321 Posted September 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2015 karinad - What do updos cost in your area? I just checked 5 different salons around me (in a LCOL area of the country- midwest, small city) and they are $55-75; with additional charges for long hair, textured hair, or a difficult style. So Carnival is actually LESS!
CruiseBride926 Posted September 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2015 The prices are pretty good especially for color. Heck if I wasn't getting married on embarkation day I'd wait to get it done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
karinad Posted September 11, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted September 11, 2015 BTW, I'll be on The Dream, so if anyone has a favorite Stylist there that I could ask for feel free to mention if it's allowed. Skittl.....I have no idea what an up-do would cost in our area. I will be sure to look. A wash, cut and style would cost $25 to $50. We live in a small town, so, what's "normal" here wouldn't be in NYC that's about 2 hrs. from us.
DebJ14 Posted September 11, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Much cheaper than where I live outside of Houston. I pay $185 for highlights, cut and style and my stylist charges a lot less than many other salons in my town.

I had wash & style back in 2008 and it was $35. so it doesn't look as those prices have gone up by that much. Unfortunately, I was not thrilled with the outcome. Tip was in cash rather than on S&S card. This may have changed since 2008, though.

blondietink Posted September 12, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 12, 2015 OMG .... glad I live in a small town. Just got a wash, cut and blow-dry and paid all of $20.00. She always does a nice job, too. Get my sons hair cut for $10 each.

SadieN Posted September 12, 2015 #15 Share Posted September 12, 2015 My biggest fear is getting a great haircut onboard. Now that would be an expensive next appointment.
funinthesun1964 Posted September 12, 2015 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2015 I pay $57 for a color, wash, cut and style. I go every 7 weeks. Have had the same stylist for 24 years. I would be afraid of getting color or cut on the ship.
aflyingbuttress Posted September 12, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Keratin Express Blow Out .................................................................. from $171 Anyone know what the difference is between a keratin blowout and a keratin express blowout? Because that's a good deal! They are usually $300-350.

cb at sea Posted December 4, 2015 #20 Share Posted December 4, 2015 $59 and up for a shampoo, cut and "style" (not sure what "style" means!)...that's HIGH!!! I pay $30 for a shampoo/cut and blow dry.......
KARTI1955 Posted December 4, 2015 #21 Share Posted December 4, 2015 My biggest fear is getting a great haircut onboard. Now that would be an expensive next appointment. I had this happen! Best haircut ever and the stylist that did it was leaving to return to school so I couldn't even follow her around (another excuse to cruise). I have had cuts and color on several ships and have always been happy. The prices aren't bad at all. I usually have at least a $100 tab at home and that is just for touch up. SATXLady Posted December 4, 2015 #22 Share Posted December 4, 2015 My biggest fear is getting a great haircut onboard. Now that would be an expensive next appointment. Maybe it should be NOT getting a good haircut. I made the mistake of deciding to get my hair cut on a cruise a couple of years ago. I couldn't wait to get back to my regular stylist to fix it after the cruise. It was horrible.
cruzelover55 Posted December 4, 2015 #23 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I never felt like the prices were to high. Just had horrible hair, the one time I did it. Sort of "slam, bam, thank you, mam" Never again.:)
silvercrikhix Posted December 4, 2015 #24 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I have had up do's a couple of times. I was extremely happy with the results and they were a fun bunch up there! The prices are less than my nearby Aveda salons but more than say, Great Clips.
Swampbaby Posted December 4, 2015 #25 Share Posted December 4, 2015 So glad I live in a small town and go to someone who has their shop at home. Shampoo and set is $10. $12 if she trims my hair. Perm with the set and all is like $42. Was on a Naval Base and had a shampoo, set and combiout and the bill was $28 plus tip. To me an appointment consists of shampoo, dry, curl and combout. For $10. Still will plan on having hair done on ship this cruise.
