dreday3 Posted September 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2015 So we decided outside of excursions and dinner, we weren't going to plan anything, just go with the flow. But.....:D Are there any activities on sea days besides pool, napping and drinking :p that you would suggest we check out? This is our first cruise. Freedom of The Seas with 3 sea days. I know what a cruise compass is, but I'd love some personal opinions. Thanks for any suggestions!
Rare LMaxwell Posted September 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Seems like you are more focused on day time stuff; the compass will have the night shows like quest, battle of sexes, love and marriage show (usually the highlight of most cruises for laughs)To answer you it depends on what you like. There may be things like music or movie trivia held in a bar, food cooking or carving demonstration, different sports tournaments, wine or martini tastings, bingo or casino tournaments. Yes, day activities. We eat dinner at 7:30 and then just plan to check out different bars at night until we find our favorite. I'm thinking will be a piano bar...but I would also love to play the trivia games at night too! But yes, the day is what I'm wondering about. Thanks for the suggestions! travelplus Posted September 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Not to miss are the warm nights watching the Movie Under The Stars. I am so happy that Royal Caribbean has the Movies Under the Stars as I enjoyed it on my Princess Panama Canal Cruise. Too bad Royal does not offer Milk Cookies and Popcorn and Pizza for Movies Under The Stars.
kimala Posted September 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 13, 2015 On sea days there are always planned activities by the pools. There will likely be an Ice carving demonstration. Also a sexy legs completion for men, campy but funny. There are always free seminars at the spa, however they will try to sell you something. There will be dance lessons, I think held in the studio where the ice skating is. Then like someone else mentioned there is the surf simulater the rock wall and ping pong. Also there are specific times when the ice rink is open for all to skate, RCL provides skates but you must have long pants to skate. ...I think that should give you enough to think about for now. ILuvCruisin' Posted September 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2015 As someone else posted it all depends on what you like... I like the pool games, the scrap booking sessions, and I Character watch. You probably won't find me at a Trivia game as I am not good with trivia (unless my sister is cruising with me, then I may succumb and tag along with her) but they have quite a few of them on all kinds of subjects if you are so inclined..... My main activity on Sea Days is hanging around one of the pools and people watch as I await for different events to start.... Those are the things I look forward to every cruise but I am a big believer in the Cruise Compass...I like reading it the night we get it and highlighting possibilities for the next day...this is usually my just before nightly night activity... Hit the flowrider. We discovered that there was absolutely no line. Interested to find out which day that was and what time of day it was...thanks... SheehanDJ Posted September 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Belly Flop and Ice Sculpting are the two we try not to miss, once upon a time they used to have horse racing on the pool deck too, sounds stupid but that was always a blast. Having lunch at the cafe on one of the sea days is pretty much a tradition. We have never been on the Freedom but on the Navigator class it is usually pretty dead as most folks are at the windjammer or MDR.

thegima Posted September 13, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Alcohol and sun :D But really, if you're into activity based stuff the sports court on FOS is normally pretty active on sea days. I remember years ago they did dodgeball but that was the only time I saw it. They normally have soccer/volley ball/basketball stuff going on, and of course the flow rider and rock wall are also great fun.
