SMerritt Posted September 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Ok......Sailing on the Royal Princess in a few days YaY! With quite a few sea days I have been browsing YouTube etc. I heard two reviewers stating that the Retreat Pool fills up fast so, "Reserve Chair Early" I was under the assumption that the Retreat pool was similar to a public pool, yes, you can go to the pool early, but not be a "chair hog" - i.e. place personal belomgings on chairs and leave. So....asking for Retreat pool, etiquette, tips, & tricks please? I despise chair hogs! Thanks in advance..........
Mom33 Posted September 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2015 There are no lounge chair reservations at the Retreat Pool. First come, first served. The cabanas at the retreat pool are for reservations. Enjoy your cruise.:)

skynight Posted September 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2015 As stated there are no lounge reservations. But, there is also no shade so lounges turn over fairly quickly.

janetz Posted September 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Those that want to sit near the pool are there pretty early and the area does fill up quickly. :)
skynight Posted September 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2015 There is partial shade in the back row. The canopy overhead is really just a netting and offers no protection at all to those that are trying to prevent sun burn and skin cancer. You really have to find a shaded spot next to the ship's structure to have real shade.
Colo Cruiser Posted September 16, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 16, 2015 All pools are open to anyone. There are chair hogs on every ship.
Rare TracieABD Posted September 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) I love the fact that you are researching strategies on how to have a chair without being a chair hog. :):) Glad to know that there are people who are willing to play by the rules. IMO- there are two kinds of chair hogs... 1. The person who gets up at the crack of dawn and slings a bunch of dreck onto deck chairs, as if this would be some claim of ownership. They go on to play trivia, eat in the buffet, go back to bed... with the expectation that their belongings are enough to protect their seat. 2. The person who draws the short straw or exhibits extreme martyrdom (in a group or family) who claims a block of chairs and then waits... and waits... and waits until said family arrives (if they ever do). In the meantime, the will wrangle with passengers and crew to protect the proffered chairs for their coven. Either way, disgusting behavior by folks who were raised by wolves. janetz Posted September 17, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I did notice that the pool staff on our sailing did not let those towels stay on the chairs for hours at a time. :)

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted September 18, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2015 No charge or reservations for the loungers, BUT there is a charge and reservation needed for the cabanas around the Retreat Pool. I believe you go to the Sanctuary to book those.
