Desertbelle Posted October 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2015 I have never been on a Solstice class ship. This coming April I have agreed to organize a Pub Crawl/Poker Run for our Roll Call members, but I have no idea which pubs/bars/lounges would be good for a Pub Crawl on a sea day afternoon on the Reflection (it's a transatlantic, so it might be chilly outside during the crossing). I know this is exactly what the Cruise Critic members do best!! Suggestions??

I know this is exactly what the Cruise Critic members do best!! Suggestions?? There are I think 11 bars on board. Start at the Sunset bar, oceanview bar, inside the café to the bar there, out to the pool bar and the mast bar, sky lounge down to deck 5 grab a beer at Café Bacio and Bistro on five down to four for Martini and Crush and Molecular Bar then to the bar in the Casino reserving a machine for a slot pull for your"poker run" ending up at Passport baron Deck 3. I think I have covered everything. If you start around lunchtime you should arrive at the Passport for happy hour
Rare shipshape sam Posted October 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Good luck and I am sure you will have fun! Not sure I could handle a drink at each pub/bar though. :)

Because it's a poker run we are only going to do 5 pubs (5 cards for a poker hand) and it will be in the afternoon, and I am not sure we should go outside incase it's raining, cold or both. Could you suggest 5 indoor pubs? Plus, we will have 20 or more people, so it would need to be a bar that can handle at least that many people coming in about the same time. az_tchr Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Outside will be fine as there is a least some cover at all the bars. You also could do the other 5 bars for the poker run! nice thing about a ship is you can wander about "town" with your drink - and sharing a drink is always acceptable. Pipo Posted October 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2015 We did a Poker crawl on Reflection last week, we began at Ensemble Lounge, then Passport Bar, Casino Bar, Pool Bar, and ended at Sunset Bar. All of them with enough space for about 14 of us during a sea day afternoon.

My guess is that if not on 1st sea day, you will have time to modify your crawl to make it great! For sure have a Martini! Noting you are from New Zealand, you most likely sailed on Solstice. They have an Oceanview Bar aft of the buffet on Deck 14, but subsequent S-Class ships eliminated that Bar due to lack of use. Not sure if it was Equinox or Eclipse onward where they eliminated the Oceanview Bar.

Not sure if it was Equinox or Eclipse onward where they eliminated the Oceanview Bar. It was Silhouette then Reflection. All the others have an Oceanview Bar. It's a waste of space in my opinion and the right decision to remove it. I love the Sunset Bar area on Reflection. Phil
Desertbelle Posted October 8, 2015 Author #19 Share Posted October 8, 2015 Are any of the other bar/lounges closed during the day that I should be aware of? Martini bar opens at 4 pm, but what about the bar next door, Crush? Or is Crush even a bar? What about the bar up in the Observation Lounge? On Royal Caribbean the bar in the Viking Crown Lounge is seldom open during the early part of the day, even on sea days. [emoji53]

I'd be happy to report back afterward. :) The big question now is afternoon or evening??? I think late evening would be more fun....but the hubby thinks late afternoon is better. Anyone have thoughts on that?

I think late evening would be more fun....but the hubby thinks late afternoon is better. Anyone have thoughts on that? I think it depends on the size of the group. We were part of a group of 6 and did an evening crawl. Space and seating were much easier for our size group. We started around 9 pm and only went to 4 bars, splitting a drink at each bar with DW. We got done around 11:30 pm. We also met a couple at our second bar who joined our group for the last 2 bars. We had met them earlier on cruise in a wine tasting, so asked them to join us. A larger group, I think, might have more fun interacting in late afternoon as there should be more room for a larger group at that time and if you are 'herding the cats' to the next bar location, getting them all to next location might be easier too.
