Big_G Posted October 17, 2015 #26 Share Posted October 17, 2015 We just did an on-board booking last Saturday on Oasis and were told that any unused portion would NOT be refunded. We burned through it before it was even posted to our account. The next cruise agent went as far as to tell the story of a woman who booked three cruises (X $200 OBC) and only spent $150. She claimed he never told her but he of course claimed he did. Not sure how it ended. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That's the way it's supposed to work, but with Royal, you never know.

outtoseacruise Posted October 21, 2015 #29 Share Posted October 21, 2015 Has anyone had any luck with cashing out the OBC at the beginning of the cruise and then putting their RCCL Visa for OBC and double points? I will be boarding Allure with around $800 in OBC from Next Cruise and RCCL Visa Points and would rather take the cash then bank it to pay the RCCL Visa for the double points. If not I will go with a Cash Only account and then put the RCCL Visa on if I use all the OBC.

If it all rolls back to your CC, you will lose $16 worth of points.
JTBCruiser Posted October 22, 2015 #31 Share Posted October 22, 2015 The last 2 cruises we had OBC given to us by my TA. We didn't spend it all and the the OBC was credited to my credit card.
shanley Posted October 23, 2015 #32 Share Posted October 23, 2015 In my case I didn't want to the pay the exchange to put it on my Cdn card so just took it out in US dollars and put it into my US acct when home. A money advantage - more US dollars to spend on my next cruise. That is what I did. I had 300 refundable and 150 non-refundable from booking my next cruise. I cashed out close to $200 USD. I used it for my drive back to the airport and then deposited it into my USD account at home. Guest Services looked at my account and confirmed because I had spent more than my non-refundable, I could get the refundable back. Also, don't book your next cruise on the last day, because it takes time for the OBC to get onto your account, and you might miss being able to cash it out. We just got off the Brilliance last Sunday. I booked a couple future cruises while on board. We already had $300 on board credit from booking this cruise last December while on another cruise. We had my time dining; so the gratuities were already paid, and we generally don't spend a lot on the ship. I requested that the credit be applied to the cruise I was booking. They said they needed to get approval; but check back later that day. It ended up not being a problem. I decided that I wanted to book a second cruise, and did that on the last day. I asked again that the credit be applied to the cruise I was booking (just like the cruise I booked earlier in the week), not the current one I was on. I was told no problem. I did get a print out, and the last day I cashed out the on board credit we had not used. Well guess what when I got my bill the morning we were to get off the ship, the $150 credit had been applied to the current cruise that morning. Guest services said it was non refundable, and they could not do anything. I was going to just call up and deal with it when I got home. Before we left I saw one of the girls that worked with the future bookings, and told her of my problem. Even though they really were not open, she pulled up the reservation. She was able to get everything straightened out. At least I think it is straightened out. I am going to wait and see what my credit card gets charged. There should be a slight charge. We had about $3.00 we owed; but I requested the $10.26 cash refund of the port fees from missing Bar Harbor. I did not want to chance losing that. We should just around $14 we do still owe. So, yes I agree do not wait until the last day to book that future cruise; because if the credit gets applied after midnight. You may be out of luck. I was very fortunate the gal was near her station talking to another customer.
