Johhno Posted November 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Hi all, First time on the Royal next Sept 2016 . 14 daycruise -Mediterranean Currently booked a Balcony/forward on Aloha deck 12 , noticed prices have dropped a bit so now looking at upgrading to a Mini-Suite also Aloha deck 12 Mid-forward. For those that might have been in both( balcony- Mini Suite ) is the extra money worth it. We do enjoy sitting on the balcony watching the sea, so are the balconies that much bigger in a Mini- suite. Thanks in advance Cheers Johhno
-Lew- Posted November 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2015 You don't mention the cabin number, but generally mini suite and regular cabin balconies are the same size. Lew
IECalCruiser Posted November 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2015 You don't mention the cabin number, but generally mini suite and regular cabin balconies are the same size. Lew As Lew said, the balconies are the same size. What you get in the mini-suite is about 70-80 sq. ft. of a sitting area with a sofa, a tv in each area and a tub in the bathroom. There are a few mini-suites in the center bump-out area with bigger balconies but they are the most expensive mini-suites. There are also a few deluxe balcony and balcony cabins in the center bump-out section on Dolphin and Emerald deck with similar larger balconies. mafig Posted November 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2015 I'm interested in this comparison also, but for the Regal.

sunshine nana Posted November 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2015 If either of you have different sleep schedules, the heavy curtain separating the bed from the sofa area and balcony is very helpful. With the two TV's, one person can be sleeping while the other is reading or watching tv or on the balcony. That and the extra room and bigger bathroom was a big plus for us. Even in some suites, there is no way to close off the sleeping area.
Mapu Posted November 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Some of the largest mini-suite balconies are under the sea walk on the Regal and Royal with no privacy.

2pbears Posted November 29, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2015 We had a deluxe balcony on the Royal and it was a nice alternative to the mini suite as it provides a love seat for seating inside the room. If a bath tub is important to you, then the mini suite would probably be the better way to go. That was not important to us.
seamwoman Posted November 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2015 We have had a deluxe balcony and mini suite on the Royal. We loved the mini! The "sofa" in the deluxe is a love seat, it is a couch in the mini. The curtain separating the living and sleeping areas in the mini is terrific! It creates a real suite! We are weird and enjoy the two TV's as we spend more time in the cabin on a long cruise. Karen
Colo Cruiser Posted November 30, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Depends on the cabin location and fare.

Rare Woobstr112G Posted November 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) Both have very small balconies and they are VERY overpriced. I took this picture of a standard balcony cabin while I was on the Royal for the inaugural T/A in 2013. As you can see it is quite small..... mafig Posted November 30, 2015 #15 Share Posted November 30, 2015 How are those aft balconies? How much larger are they? Also, do they have more furniture than just two chairs and a small table? I have read there is a problem with soot. We've had aft balconies before, and have had some soot problems, but it was intermittent. Is that the case with Regal also, or is it worse? capriccio Posted December 5, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 5, 2015 Some of the largest mini-suite balconies are under the sea walk on the Regal and Royal with no privacy. But those on the other side of the ship (port side, even numbered cabins) under the Sea View bar have the larger balconies and no privacy issues. We were in C-410 on the Royal for 20 days in October and we appreciated the larger balcony.
