My beautiful wife and I will be celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary aboard the Regatta in April. I'd love to surprise her with a renewal ceremony.

Does Oceania provide a package for this? Has anyone experienced one?

Yes they do provide a package. Friends booked a package on the Riviera in 2012. It cost $295 at that time which included champagne, cake and 10 guests for the observance which was to be conducted by an officer member ( Captain was not going to be available at their requested time.) We were looking forward to the event but the evening prior the "groom" announced that he was divorcing his wife and then went "missing" for 48 hours. Ship had an APB out on him and he was nowhere to be found. He did surface a day and a half later. None of us know where he was (my hub and I have suspicions) and they let us know all was now "OK" and the trip continued. It has been over 3 years now and these friends announced to us that "we no longer travel in the same circle" and have thus eliminated us from their circle. They are still together. Fortunately we are not with them.

This is not a joke post. Just ask the Social Hostess on Riviera. She remembers it well:D

That's an interesting story.

Omigosh. I guess that would discourage me from renewing my vows on the ship!

Surely the hubby was aware of problems when he set all of this in motion?????????

No need to answer that!

Thanks Silver Sweet for the info. With all of the "if available" clauses, I hope we won't wind up in our cabin, our room steward conducting the ceremony, and a lovely cheese platter for dinner.

BTW...I noticed you've also sailed on Sitmar. We sailed with them in the early 70's and still remember the pasta buffets. We LOVED that line.

Hey Stan and Jim,

Thanks for the photos.

Sitmar was our first truly "Italian" experience. The food(oh, the food), service and amenities were incredible.

Still haven't been able to duplicate that.

I'm with you on the food and the service

but my memories of the amenities are less glowing .

The Suites.....well, all of the cabins were minuscule and although they were awash in gorgeous woodwork, there was also a great deal of Formica. Not a single cabin had a private veranda, and the showrooms made the much maligned theaters on the O ships look like Radio City Music Hall.

Still, the cruises were incredible, I would even say incomparable.

Nostalgia is a funny thing.

Our 1st 3 cruises were on Sitmar and it didnt matter the kind of cabin..(I do remember 1st time was an inside cabin..) It was the best time of our life..in all the 70 cruises we have been on the 1st Sitmar is the one we remember most fondly..
