Very interesting! We are going on our first ever Celebrity cruise in May of 2017. So this is all new to me.

So are you just saying that I should ask the maitre 'd of the desired specialty restaurant if there are any discounts available on _____ night?

Best to ask during the morning of the day that you want to go. The level of discount will be somewhat based on the number of guest that are scheduled for that evening. You might consider starting with BOGO (50%), if you are willing to eat at their convenience.

In my experience on my 3 Celebrity cruises, about half way through the cruise, discounts to specialty restaurant discounts seem to be offered to everyone. It, of course, depends if the restaurants are not full, which seems quite often.

What a great idea to pass on those little facts regular cruisers know - I am going to keep reading in case after all these years I have missed something!....

Mine to add would be to ask your room attendant to empty your fridge then early evening you can visit the buffet and put some snacks in it to enjoy late at night on the balcony! Worth taking a little plastic container to put your bits in too!

Your regular waiter may also be able to get a healthy discount for you. Certainly has worked for me. 25-30% for less popular times and days is usually available if you ask nicely.

Thanks to both of you. I had no idea and was certainly not willing to spend $50/pp. I have been spoiled by Princess' specialty restaurants (especially Crowne Grill) at $25.

Good job neverbeenthere

11. Unless you are in AQ or a Suite you cannot eat in Blu, one thing Celebrity actually enforces. This includes ie: you are in AQ and kids in another cabin, they can't eat there.

12. Blu is anytime dining all the time.

13. Solarium is Adults only except Celebrity reserves the right to open it to children in inclement weather

The walls of your stateroom are metal. Pack a few magnets and you hang pages of info and invitations etc on the wall where you can see them.

Aqua Spa cafe is free for all passengers and not related to AQ class. People get confused by the name. They have 2 hot entrees/day (order off the menu) as well as all the cold plates.

You don't always have to ask for a discount for the Sp restaurants, sometimes they come to you (in the Lounge, at Aqua Spa cafe etc). Often they are outside the Oceanview cafe looking for bookings.

Great thread.

What is cruise assist card?

U might change wording on wine. If I was new to cruising I could read it that they give you 2 bottles.

and I would add to list that "arrival time" on final day doesn't mean that is the time you can get off the ship. We were first in line to get off in San Juan to make our 9am flight, and people behind us thought arrival time=disembark time. I can see their confusion. There really isn't any thing that say that in the literature.

MDR Dinner and lunch menu is available from room service during regular MDR hours. Most people don't know about lunch.

Being served dinner in a suite by course is not a suite perk, it is up to your Butler.

MDR Dinner room service comes from the MDR, not Luminae if in a suite, or Blu in AQ.

neverbeenhere - First I would like to thank you for a positive post. The board has been so negative lately, and it's nice to remember that we're fortunate to cruise, and Celebrity really is a very nice product. Secondly, thanks for the Cruise Assist information. I've never heard of it even after about 15 X cruises!

I went to link for the Assist Card and try to get a quote - could not find America or United States listed....does anyone know if I am missing something? Would love to see how much they would charge me for this.

Same here............Is this only something for other countries and not the US??

$7 per person per day last time I looked. Or thereabouts, if booked through a RCCL company.

This card has been offered by RCCL since late 2011 with mixed reviews. Assist-card has been operating in Europe for decades but expanded to the US in 2010 or 2011.
