Tell me about Victory...

I am looking at maybe planning a short cruise next year on the Victory out of Port Canaveral. What can you guys tell me about her? What production shows does she have onboard? Is there a Serenity area? She didn't receive Guys or Blue Iguana in her drydock, correct? I am looking at booking an interior cabin, do you all have an recommendations for a specific deck or cabin to book? Any other info/advice on Victory would be appreciated. Thanks!

Deck 6 mid/forward near the atrium is my favorite area for a cabin. I enjoy having a balcony as close to the water as possible and like being a deck above the fun shops, two decks above the promenade and very close to the forward elevators. My second favorite is a 4J cabin in the front of the ship on deck 6 or 7.

Its a fun ship to be on! The emerald green atrium is really nice. We had alot of fun when we were on it but alot depends on the crew and what you make of it. The ship has two full interior decks, atlantic and promenade, with the lobby deck that is split in two with the galley in the middle. So there is quite a bit of room on the inside. The balcony rooms we had, the cabinet layout was a little different than typical carnival ships so im not sure how the interior rooms are. Lido was a little small compared to conquest and spirit class i have been on. I cant speak of current production shows. I would go empress deck midship for a room.We did miss the steakhouse as it was our honeymoon cruise but we survived!LOL

 

All in all a good ship!

If you can snag a deal on oceanviews they are ENORMOUS 220 SQ ft rooms; really nice. HAd one on deck 2 just below forward atrium and panoramic elevators.

 

Food I thought was very, very good. MDR in particularly great. Pizza excellent. Buffet food good but long lines everytime, everywhere in there. Bad layout.

 

Try to find the Ionian Bar! Literally!

 

Yes there is Serenity up top and all the way forward. There is also a pretty open sundeck aft where the jogging track is. Deck 3 exterior promenade deck (does not wrap around) off of the main lobby is very quiet and relaxing and has lounge chairs too.

 

No Guys. No Iguana. No specialty restaurants. Has a taste bar (rolling cart outside of casino). Seaday Brunch and Tea Time were really good. Was not my favorite ship of all time but had a good time and thought it was good value.

Wow. The serenity is forward. I loved it being aft on the Inspiration. How is the sernity area?? I'm traveling on Victory next month and its a kid free trip so I want as much serenity time as possible.

We had a kid with us so never used it, I just checked it out while doing a walking tour of the ship. On the lower level starboard side are hot tubs and a bar. On the upper level there are loungers on both port and starboard but that is also the entrance to the water slide. the lower level port side of the area is the kiddie wading pool.

 

The Lido deck sound level (speakers, music) is OBNOXIOUSLY high on this ship. There is no such thing as background music, just ear splitting, bass thumping SO YOU KNOW YOU ARE HAVING FUN! I don't know how much that invades Serenity area or not but I feel safe in saying it won't be totally quiet there.

 

If Serenity isn't doing it for you, go behind the funnel on the jogging track where it is quiet and they set out lounge chairs or deck 3 exterior is silent except for sound of waves.

Sure will. My friend who is crusing with me is also a first timer. We got a balcony so I hope she enjoys it. 26 days till we leave for Miami. The same week last year I cruised the Sensation. Wondering how the Victory will compare myself.

I'm also bringing a first-time cruiser on the Victory when I travel in April. Of course, it's my 14-year-old niece, so she's sure to be excited no matter what. :) Would love to read more about the ship when you get back! Have a wonderful cruise!

I'm leaving on Victory on December 26 with a friend who is a first time cruiser. She was given the cruise from a casino and this was the only cruise that would work for her since she is a teacher. I'm hoping she will like it.

Our family cruised Victory in May. The layout is nice. We were also on Empress in a balcony midship. We loved the location. Close to everything! The kids loved Camp Carnival, Club O2 and the casino. (My boys are 19, 16 and 10). Plenty on the ship for them each to do! Serenity was my favorite spot! The night movies on the Dive-In big screen were fun. So much to do and not enough time!

The buffet always seemed crowded but there were 85% first time carnival cruisers on board according to the entertainment staff. Also over 1000 people under 18 which was a lot more than I am used to.

 

I only got off the ship in HMC for a few minutes. So I can't really review the ports.

 

This was my first cruise after Alaska so it was a little underwhelming.

 

Again the crew was all fantastic. Especially Mignon, from South Africa, who was on the entertainment staff and comedy club manager.

 

It's funny sailing and staff recognize you from other ships you've been on with them. A girl Venice remembered me from the Pride last November.

 

Brian the cruise director was very active and always seen running around the ship doing a million things, but also delegated different events appropriately to staff.

 

If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer. I spent pretty much all the time onboard and got to know the ship well. So please feel free to ask.

Biting seahorses? Do explain!

Thanks for the info on the ship, I feel better now. We booked an interior with walkway view on Lido deck so mom should like that. I believe any cruise is better than a day at work, so I'm happy!

On most of the staircases there are decorative seahorses that hold the hand railing up. The mouths of these seahorses stick out about an inch. So if you're going up or down the stairs quickly and make the quick turn against the railing your thigh will clip the seahorse thus turning them into biting seahorses. It happened to me a few times including the day we debarked so be careful on those stairs.

It's very windy, but overall its good. The sound from the main lido carries heavily (which isn't an issue to me since Serenity isn't advertised as a silent deck, just 21+), but I know that's an issue to some people. There's no pool, just a couple hot tubs.

No Guys or Blue Iguana, but it does have an Alchemy bar. I only saw one production show, and don't remember what it was called, but only saw the last 30 mins or so, and enjoyed it. This was on my cruise end of October this year.

Serenity area is forward and high up, and was crowded on sea days, but I enjoyed it on port days, since I only went into port for a short time. But for true serenity, I enjoyed the decks off the atrium bar area, deck 3, both sides. Always quiet, with loungers and armchairs for relaxation. I found the crew on this ship to be excellent, but usually they are on all my Carnival cruises.

I had a forward porthole cabin on Riviera and it was quiet and a smooth ride.

No complaints from me.

The décor is quite green, and bluish, ocean/sea décor, but those are some of my favorite colors, and I love color, so may be why I enjoy all of the Carnival ship decors, I have seen.

Food was good, deli, chopsticks, lido all decent, and the burgers from the grill were pretty good too. I did not miss guy burgers. MDR food was pretty good and service excellent for me with "your time dining", never a wait, service always quick.

I really enjoyed the Victory, but found a 5 day cruise to be much to short for my liking. Would sail on her again for a 7 day cruise though. JMHO:)

Glad to know there are Victory fans out there. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. We found the service to be lacking. The food quality was not good. The decor was over the top. Way too much green! If there were any positives, I will say the whole cabin experience was great. Our cabin steward was attentive, the cabin size was good (interior) and the bed was very comfortable.

I am SO happy to see that you guys are talking about the Victory again. I'm sailing her in a few weeks and most of the threads about her are ancient! So please keep the comments coming and give up tips on how to make it a fabulous cruise!:):):):):)
