suite or a veranda room and an inside?

I am sorry, but this post may come up three times or more, this is my last time trying. Hope I have not done something wrong and clogged up your boards.

question is; My parents are well into their 80's, and have cruised mostly with Celebrity over the years and are elite with them. I have only done one Celebrity cruise.

My father has reached the point where he needs quite a bit of help on a day to day basis, and now that I have retired, I am able to come along on their cruise and help them, but it is not an option for three of us in a regular room. I am wondering if it would be better for us to have a suite, but only if there are two bathrooms in a suite. I have tried to find this on Celebrity website but cannot find a layout of a suite on these ships.

Other option is for them to get a veranda room, with me across the hall or so in an inside, which I don't mind. We just need two bathrooms.

We would be sailing either out of Port Everglades or Miami. I think the ships are all solstice class, either silhouette, refelction, equinox, eclipse

Thanks for any advice.:o

I do not think any of the celebrity suites have 2 full bathrooms. The ones they do have are quite large though. Also, be careful booking a suite and non suite as the Suite Guests will have a lot of amenities and benefits that will not extend to non suite holder.

Thanks, so much. that may be why I don't find any suites online deck plans with two bathrooms. I think we will go with veranda room, and an inside. This is my plan anyway, but they are wanting to keep me near, so maybe even to veranda rooms, connecting, might work for us. thank you for the quick response.

My wife and I have been in Sky Suites, Celebrity Suites and Royal Suites and those all have only one bathroom. I know (from friends who have been in one) that the same is true of Signature Suites. I do not know about Penthouse or Reflection Suites since those are priced out of my budget. As a practical matter, you probably need two rooms to get two baths on X (but some other cruise lines like Disney have two bathrooms in most or even all of their suites). However, if you can possibly get along with only one bathroom, there are a lot of advantages to being in a suite. Michael's Club and Luminae are both wonderful perks.

thanks, I am thinking for us , it will either be best one veranda for them and me in an inside not too far away, or two adjoining veranda rooms, depending on price difference.

The only reason that I was thinking suite was because I was trying to talk them into haven on NCL, but they are resistant to change, so I will not continue down that route lol!

Thanks, all , I already think I have my question answered well.:)

book the veranda and an inside. if you put you and mother in veranda you all can go to nightly cocktail party legitimately. certainly easy to tell steward to make up both rooms as one bed and simply switch. not worth it for the penthouse IMHO. you might want a key for the other room anyway if father has any health concerns. just let celebrity know the issues or go to guest relations or captains club rep after boarding.

Not knowing your father's physical condition but just from reading your remarks, if he has balance problems they may be best off booking an accessible cabin located in the center of the ship (if available).

Sailing out of Port Everglades or Miami, there is the possibility of hitting some rough stretches of water, so those extra grab bars and the fold-down seat in the shower may come in handy for him.

There are also emergency pull cords to summon help - just in case.

For suites, you need at least a Celebrity Suite to get a separate bedroom.

The Sky Suites are just one big room.

If I were in your position, I would want my own cabin, even an inside, not only for the extra bathroom but for the privacy. You can turn on lights, watch TV, come in late, etc. without any concern about disturbing your parents.

If your parents are both Elite and you are not, I would suggest booking you into the same cabin with one of them on paper when you make the reservations.

That way you would be eligible to attend the Elite events with them.

There is nothing illegal about cross-booking that way, and the Celebrity staff even suggests it under such circumstances.

Once you are on the ship, nobody cares who sleeps where.

Royal Suites on S-Class have 1 full bath and a half bath.

PH has 2 full baths.

Reflection suite has 2 baths.

All other cabins have 1 bath (though I am not certain about a family cabin).

Happy sailing,

Jenna

If you are travelling on an S class ship you may find a Royal Suite will suit you. There is a jacuzzi bath and separate shower in the main bathroom off the bedroom and a toilet and washbasin off the living room. The living room sofa converts to a very comfortable bed at night.

There is ample dedicated dining space in the lounge area and quality butler service means if your parents want to breakfast, lunch or dine in they can in comfort. The balcony is a good size with jacuzzi, two comfortable chairs and a very comfortable lounger.

The additional bonuses of you all being in a RS include access to Michael's Club and it's conceirge (really is a great space for pre and post dinner drinks), Luminae restaurant, priority escorted embarkation and disembarkation, a premium drinks package and included speciality dining and free laundry. I list these perks for you to take into account when pricing against a veranda and inside cabin.

We have regularly cruised as three adults in this suite and found it fine and value for money. We also tried a CS for three adults and found it a little crampt.

If you are looking at the M class we only viewed a CS and RS and did not think them suitable for three adults (others who have actually stayed in them may feel different). A word of warning, however, the shower is in the CS bath which is very high and hard to get in or out of. The M class PH is ideal for 3/4 adults. One full luxury bathroom and a second with toilet, washbasin and roomy shower. Loads of quality living space and a balcony to die for...Same perks as RS on S class plus that additional buzz that comes with the PH.

So, as others have said, with sky suite and CS there are compromises on space and layout but on S class both RS and PH could suit and on M class PH. As I previously stated, when pricing up suites vs 2 rooms do take into account those additional perks....when our adult son cruises with us we always choose one of these rooms in preference to two separate rooms.

Whatever you choose, I hope you find a great cruise.

I think the design for connecting verandas on the S class is excellent. There is an extra door that closes in front of the normal doors. It makes a very small entrance way with access to both rooms. You can close that door and leave the others open for easy access or you can have keys to both room. Very flexible and you can go between them without losing cabin space and without going into the main hallway.

Thanks to every one for the responses and suggestions. I am going to run all this info by my mom this morning and see what she thinks. Also the person who suggested the special room with the grab bars(thanks Varoo). This might also be a very good idea. Yes my Dad does get around with a cane, but does have balance problems, and some other issues, so this seems like a good idea to me. Thanks every one.

One more issue not mentioned, Sky & Celebrity Suites do not have a separate shower, it is in the tub and the side of the tub is quite high which makes getting into and out of a problem even for those without mobility issues. They do have accessible sky suites. If you decide on a suite make sure you get one of those.

Here is a link to info about the accessible staterooms on each Celebrity ship:

Accessible Staterooms

If you scroll down to the chart "View Accessible Stateroom Features By Ship"

you can then select your ship (using the drop down box on the chart), and it will list the accessible staterooms on that ship with the special features of each.
