Concierge on Escape is David Contreras until March 12 when Adrian returns

We SERIOUSLY missed Adrian on our 2/20/16 cruise. We met David upon boarding, with a large group of other Haven guests. Never saw him again. Anything I needed, I went to the ladies at the Haven Concierge desk (THANK YOU, LILIBETH!). Never had a concierge ignore us before.

Does anyone have info for the Pride of America? We're going on the trans-Pacific, SFO to Hawaii run March 15.

We leave Tuesday. Anyone know who we might have for a captain, HD, etc.? I promise to post post-drydock photos.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the staffing protocols of NCL's mega ships.

When dealing with "the ladies at the Haven Concierge desk", you were dealing with David Contreras's personal staff. The mega ships are so large and that providing Concierge service to Haven & Non Haven Suite guests, and all Platinum guests requires the Concierge to have a staff of 2 or 3 Assistant Concierges. If you were pleased the the services of the "ladies", then you were pleased with David Contreras. From personal experience, I know David to be among the top 3 Concierges in the Fleet.

The smaller ships (Sky, Sun, Dawn) just have the Concierge.

The medium Ships (Jewel Class) have a Concierge usually with an assistant.

The Mega ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape) have a Concierge plus 2 or 3 assistants (epending on how full the bookings)

Also, bear in mind that the Suite Butlers report to the Concierge not Housekeeping Director or Hotel Director.

Interesting opinion. I've sailed NCL's smaller ships and, most recently, the Getaway and Escape. We typically interact with the Concierge frequently. On this cruise aboard Escape, we were in a Deluxe Owners Suite. I left two requests for David to contact me. Nada. Lilibeth was very helpful, yes, but I opted not to do a birthday surprise for my grandson when David didn't respond to a second request to discuss.

Like you, we enjoyed the amenities of the Escape's Deluxe Owner's Suite.

In addition, we have booked Suite service with NCL 23 times and balconies twice.

So, we pretty much understand the ins and outs of the Concierge program.

Was there something about the planning of a birthday surprise for your grandson that required the Concierge's personal attention that could not be provided by his staff and caused you to cancel the surprise?

If so, you should email the Escape's Concierge and advise David Contreras of your disappointment, while he is still aboard.

I spent a week on the Escape beginning the 30th of January, and David was everywhere. Despite being in one of the stern Penthouse suites with the 260+sq ft balconies, I interacted with either David, or his assistant "K" ever time I came to the Haven. The Haven staff were superb!:)

Wasn't David just filling in for Adrian?

Not necessarily. The current staffing protocols of the entire NCL fleet are undergoing major changes and no one knows for sure when, where or how it will end.

Both David and Adrian ARE Concierges. In the past, there was a set schedule for each catagory of management staff with so many months ON and so many months OFF. So, two Concierges (or other positions) might share a ship half time & half time. But, there would be regular periods of a month or so when neither regular Concierge was aboard. That would allow for a temporary fill in from a possible try out for Concierge.

The past is no longer a prologue to the future since the new Del Rio management plan and style has no attachment to past practice.

I've enjoyed the services of both Adrian & David and I'm unable to understand or agree with your less than positive commentary on David.

Perhaps we should get the thread away from rating opinions of on board staff and back on the topic of identifying who's on board.

Came back from the Escape last week, and while my memory is still a little fuzzy when it comes to some of the captains/directors, I can confirm that Giovanni Cutugno is Captain, Jovo Sekulovic is the Hotel Director, and Silas Cook is the CD.
