Sailing on Anthem to St. Kitts

We are sailing to St. Kitts as part of our Eastern Caribbean cruise on Anthem of the Seas (April 2016). Because we have a full-time wheelchair user in our party, I am having difficulty finding accessible shore excursions. Is there anything "wonderful" to do in the immediate area of the port, or within a reasonable walking distance? Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

Try googling Thenford Grey tours (also Royston). They provide private custom tours, and I can only guess they could have an accessible van to provide you and your group a full tour of the island.

Like Bob says above, lots and lots of shopping in the immediate area that is not special at all. You need to get out of the port area, St. Kitts is gorgeous! I have a review with lots of pics of Thenford Grey tour in my Quantum review below in my signature (click the Quantum link and search "St. Kitts").. maybe that can give you some ideas and at least a glimpse of what you can see around the island with a professional tour. :)

Another tour operator you could contact is Island Paradise Tours. We recently took the 'Rosevelt special' tour and it is a wonderful introduction to the island with a reasonable price. I believe they said they can accommodate mobility challenged.

Royston's van is super accessible. It doesn't even have windows :)

He's a great guy and I'm sure he'd accommodate just about anyone and make them love St. Kitts as much as we do...

You're right Bob. There are a lot of the typical straw market shops around the port and some really nice stores (jewelry, gift shops, clothing, etc.) restaurants and bars. It's very nicely set up. When we were there last (2 times on B2B Adventure cruise) they had bands playing and guys with monkeys to take "selfies" with and, ironically, their favorite music is American Country. You can easily walk out to the town behind and to the left of the port if you want to go outside of the cruise bubble.

Because of the itineraries for the Adventure cruises we were there twice last year and I'd go there again twice this year if we didn't have other things planned.

All I remember is lots of shopping around the port area.

St.Kitts is one of my favorite stops that I have been to and I look forward to going back to see even more. The tours I did would not be conducive to someone with a mobility issue unfortunately, but I would strongly suggest looking up the vendors mentioned here to do a tour that works for you. I agree, it would be a shame to visit St.Kitts and see only the port area.

There's a Casino right in the shopping area! I won $68 with a $5 investment. :D:D

EDIT: Don't touch the monkeys. IMO

Lots of shopping in port. We went to a outside bar had a drink and dancers came by was very entertaining. We always go to Carambola (sp) Beach Club by cab. Nice beach and great place for a nice lunch.

Hi Sharon! Yes, that is a very nice place to go if they can find an accessible vehicle. :)
