The OP asked about OBC-I don't think they charge the 3% on that?
triptolemus Posted January 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2016 The OP asked about OBC-I don't think they charge the 3% on that? Any cash draw from the casino will incur a 3% fee. You don't "spend" OBC. You have OBC applied to your account. The cash draw is applied to your account just like any other purchase. The 3% fee is applied to your account just like any other purchase. I was under the impression obc could be converted to slot dollars/chips w/o the 3% as its NOT a withdrawal from your credit card.

The OBC is just a credit on your account. Any cash taken from the casino gets a 3% "surcharge". If you went to the casino and asked for $100 you would get the 100 and be charged 103 on your account. Doesn't matter if you have OBC or not.
vince_g Posted January 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) Would an NCL gift card be usable in the Casino? The terms and conditions don't really say one way or another. Edited January 11, 2016 by vince_g

triptolemus Posted January 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Oh sorry.. NCL gift card. Reading the T&Cs, it says "The Card cannot be used to obtain cash." I imagine one would have to use the card to purchase on-board credit which could then be used in the casino.

I imagine one would have to use the card to purchase on-board credit which could then be used in the casino. Ok thanks. I wasn't sure if the casino had any way of doing a direct transfer off the card. Last time I cruised I bought FCCs, but wanted to earn points on NCL MC, so I went to OBC desk and had them do a MC charge to my bill in the amount I paid for the FCCs. All thru the cruise, the ITV showed the MC charge, but it disappeared on the disembarkation morning. I went to OBC desk and she told me the charge was cancelled because a review of my account showed I had plenty of OBC available. Fortunately the same girl who did the original charge was at the desk that morning, so she knew why I did the charge in the first place, and just redid it. If I put 500 on a NCL gift card to buy 2 FCCs on my next cruise, would I need to do buy $500 OBC to offset the FCC cost, or can the person at the FC desk just swipe the card? ready2cruzagain Posted January 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2016 So I have a question. On Carnival, Princess, etc if you have obc it is assigned to your S&S card, not sure what the card is on NCL. You can go to the casino and play the slot machines using you S & S card. Play a few rounds, then cash out and you are not charged a fee. Is this possible with NCL. Or are you all just talking about going to the casino cashier and asking for cash, if that is the case then it is the same with CCL on the 3% charge. Greciangirl Posted January 14, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2016 You can use your sail and sign card in the slots but you will be charged a 3% fee each time you want to take money from your on board account. The obc desk can swipe and add any credit cards to your account at any time but the future cruise credit desk will charge your onboard account only Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk
Songwriter37201 Posted February 13, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 13, 2017 Drawing cash from the casino can be charged to your on board account. You will pay a 3% fee to do so. Hi! I'm sailing on NCL Getaway next week. 1. Can you use cash in the casino? For table play? For slots? Or do you have to purchase through your Onboard Account? 2. When you get chips in the casino through your Onboard Account covered by a credit card, do you know what sort of authorization is sent to your credit card? Is it for an NCL "purchase" OR for a "cash advance"? Thanks! Gordy
yummysbakery Posted February 13, 2017 #15 Share Posted February 13, 2017 Yes you can use cash and it is an Ncl purchase on your onboard account tied to your credit card if you choose not to use cash Sent from my 2PQ93 using Tapatalk

Gordy Taking money from the casino only shows as an NCL regular charge (same as all purchases) so it will not be the higher interest cash advance on your credit card. Maplemoose Posted May 25, 2017 #18 Share Posted May 25, 2017 Ok, let's say that I have a $100 OBC. I walk into the casino the first day and use my card to get $100 cash. I get charged $103 on my account. I walk out of the casino without playing. The cruise ends and I have $100 cash and all things being equal, I have $3 on my account ($103 - $100 OBC). Is that correct? So, for $3 I have turned my OBC into cash. Is that the way it works? Does my balance show as $3 the day after I hit the casino?
Rare EllieinNJ Posted May 26, 2017 #19 Share Posted May 26, 2017 When I was on the Jade in September, I had $100 in non-refundable OBC. I went to the slot desk in the casino, gave him my room card and he handed me $100 in cash, which was later billed as $103 to my account. On my recent trip on the Pearl I only had $25 in non-refundable OBC. When I went in the casino, I had to use the card in the slot machine and register a pin number, then withdraw whatever amount I wanted to on that machine, just like you do in Atlantic City. I withdrew $5 each on five different machines and was charged fifteen cents each, total of seventy five cents.
Maplemoose Posted May 26, 2017 #20 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Yes, but my question is "can the OBC offset the cash withdrawal". Was your OBC used directly against the casino cash or did you perhaps have other expenditures that ate up the OBC.

marktwothousand Posted October 16, 2017 #24 Share Posted October 16, 2017 Nice! NCL is offering me about $200 US OBC on a studio, so that’s like a 10-15% discount on the total fare if I cash it out at the casino...3% be darned!
keep on cruisin Posted October 16, 2017 #25 Share Posted October 16, 2017 Will they allow you to take it out in promotional chips without the fee. On Celebrity they gave promotional chips that could not be cashed. If you play and win you are paid in standard chips, but the original bet remains promo. If you lose they take the promo chips. Obviously doing it this way at some point you must lose the money paid from OBC. But if you are planning on playing anyway the odds are you will not win every hand so you are still using OBC to play. And if you can play without losing, you have had a damn good night. 😁 Sent from my SM-T810 using Forums mobile app
