Hello, I am going on the Escape in December and stayed last time at the Doubletree at Biscayne Bay which was nice, but a little remote from anything without using the tram/train or taxi.

Can anyone recommend something (around $200 or less on average so to speak) perhaps in South Beach for example? Are there other areas to consider.

I liked having a balcony at the Doubletree, I considered looking at the Holiday Inn near the Marketplace which I passed by as well

Will be huge variance in price depending on what day in December you are boarding Getaway.

December 4 or 11, might be something close to your budget.

December 18, anything close to the port in Downtown or Brickell will be at least $300, South Beach same or much more depending on property name and location.

The December 26 sailing? You need to more than double your budget unless content with a fleabag near the airport. Lots of hotels could have minimum stays all weekend.

Caveat is that some of the discount search engines do not have Christmas weekend (or even the weekend before) open yet. But if you are sailing in early December you should search the web for your dates and if you find something that interest you either right next to the port or in South Beach, come back and ask about the specific property.

(Also note that the Holiday Inn Bayside was recently sold to developers who plan to tear it down ASAP--or so they claim; its website is still taking bookings up to one year out)

Hello, I will be going 12/15-12/17- actually 5 year anniversary of my last cruise from Miami to the same date. At the time I paid $314 total with taxes for the Doubletree- right now it is likely closer to $500 total but then again it is 11 months off (and of course 5 years later) - I'll probably keep watching the trends over the next several months.

Prices have really gone up by a lot since five years ago. I know because we've been going there almost every year since 2007 in December. Five years ago the economy was still an issue with a lot of vacancies and most recently demand has been high. Of course, with some people nervous and some of the issues around the world with other economies demand might drop and prices will go down.

I would book something now just to have something even if it is more than you want. Then keep watching prices and if they go lower then book other properties or followup on the booking you have to obtain lower prices.

But if the economy stays strong you just have to forget what you paid five years ago. Even rates right now are much higher than two or three years ago.

December 4th is Art Basel.

Pretty much all of December is high season any longer.

Forget the balcony, take the Club Floor at the Intercon for the view :)
