verga Posted January 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Our family is planning to take the May 7, 2016 Canada/New England cruise with HAL Veendam if the logistics work out for us on May 14, 2016 Boston disembarkation. Our family of 4 (including our daughter who is graduating) is hoping to catch the 9:00 am flight out to Philadelphia (arriving at 10:34 am) as we will be attending the graduation ceremony at 3 PM in Wharton U. The next direct flight out is at 11:00 am (arriving at 12:34 PM). It takes about 30 to 40 minutes by cab from PHL to Wharton. We plan to bring carry-ons only so no luggage to check-in For those who have disembarked at Boston pier before, we would appreciate your feedback on how fast was your Boston's disembarkation? Is the 9:00 am flight from BOS to PHL feasible with a 7 am scheduled disembarkation in Boston? Thanks in advance for your assistance! sail7seas Posted February 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2016 No way anyone would be leaving the ship in Boston at 7:00 A.M. but OP said they changed their plans.

September 10 2017 Boston Pier at 6:00 am and Customs arrival at 6:30 am Great passed through customs in lounge in seconds GREAT ! We had a 9:30 am domestic out of Logan and so we carried off our own luggage ( Serenade of the Seas ) not that it matters. Lined up outside on port side promenade waiting for security to let us go down the Gangway. I will emphasize at 6:50 am outside with our own luggage. THE CUSTOMS WOULD NOT LET US GET OFF UNTIL EVERYONE WAS CLEARED. WE WERE ALLOWED OFF AT 8:15 AM. DID I MENTION WAITING SINCE 6:50 am outside. I have cruised many times and I am sure RCCL has sailed into the USA before but when sailing into Boston BEWARE ! ! !
lynncarol Posted September 15, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2017 To cruisedafewtimes: Was that Boston disembarkation you described in September of 2016 after the Seranade's transAtlantic? If so, we vividly recall that nightmare. If you are talking about 2017, it is awful they still haven't gotten their act together.
Rare Hlitner Posted September 20, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2017 We just disembarked in Boston last week (after the VOV cruise) so our info is pretty current (we have also been in and out of Boston's Black Falcon Terminal several times in the past). Our cruise actually docked in Boston about 12 hours early (around 6pm) because we missed our last port (Halifax) due to high winds. So, you would think that docking early would help disembarkation.....but it made little difference other then we were able to clear immigration in the evening (the CBP folks came aboard) rather in the morning. But here is the key for the OP's question. The Longshoreman who unload the luggage do not start working until 7am. Even if your ship docks very early, those Longshoreman do not start work until 7. So if you have an early flight you must use Express Debarkation and haul your own luggage off the ship. But even Express Debarkation may not start until after 7....since it is subject to the CBP folks giving their permission. And I should add that the original plan (if we had docked at our normal time in the morning) was that everyone on the ship had to do a face to face with immigration....early in the morning. This would have likely further delayed debarkation. Hank
Texas Posted September 21, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Hank, I thought the Quebec/Boston cruise would have cleared customs in Bar Harbor or another port before Boston. Was Boston your first US stop?
