Jules59 Posted January 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Hi. I did a search, but did't come up with anything. I was wondering which purses to take on our cruise coming up this weekend. I have a large brown purse to take on the plane and other places when I feel the need for it. A black clutch for evenings. Question on the 3rd purse. I have a medium black one that I like, but would really like the robins egg blue that I have. Is the blue one out of place for this time in the winter? Thanks for your help. Hoyaheel Posted January 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2016 would really like the robins egg blue that I have. Is the blue one out of place for this time in the winter? Thanks for your help. Where are you cruising? Dress for where you are. If you'll be in the Caribbean, the brown & black might be too "heavy" visually. (Probably not a black clutch for evening, but during the day - match what you plan to wear). If you're going to be in a warm climate, the blue will probably be lovely. Langley Cruisers Posted January 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Empty purses don't really weigh that much, do they? Can you take them all and decide later? Just a suggestion. Do you always carry a purse onboard ship, like during the day? When I am cruising I find purses to be somewhat annoying and in fact, almost unnecessary during the day. On formal nights, I do use a black clutch to carry my comb, lip gloss, mints, and ship's card, but otherwise I don't bother.
Jules59 Posted January 20, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Yes, we'll be in the Caribbean for two weeks. I love the blue purse. Like I said it's a robins egg blue. If I don't look out of place, I'd rather take the blue purse during the day.
cb at sea Posted January 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2016 On the ship, you only need room for your room key, lipstick, comb....stuff like that. No wallet needed! Something small! Color doesn't matter.
Jules59 Posted January 20, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I'm thinking about going to different ports.
crystalspin Posted January 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Hi Jules! Many people (women and the occasional man!) like a "cross-body" or shoulder-strap bag for ports -- leaves your hands free for other things. Would your blue bag be good this way? Jules59 Posted January 20, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Yes. Perfect. Think my mind is made up.
Nebr.cruiser Posted January 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2016 If it's the color you're worried about, the blue will be just fine in the Caribbean. I take a small cross body bag for ports and sometimes around the ship and a silver evening bag; no large purses for cruising.
mrswallace2012 Posted January 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I'm traveling with my beloved MK patent leather tote . Bringing a very small vintage blank clutch for dinner , and lastly a very casual canvas tote from old navy for pool/port days.
waterbug123 Posted January 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 20, 2016 I'm thinking about going to different ports. The color won't really matter, just take a purse that will fit whatever you like to carry with you in port.
sail7seas Posted January 21, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2016 The blue is never out of season in the Caribbean. :)

If anything, Robin's Egg Blue is a wonderful winter color, and with tropical clothing can hold its own. What type of handbag is it-- hobo, satchel, cross-body, bucket…? I would think unless its "luxury special" item (meaning you can already picture yourself with it on your trip) just stick to your big travel handbag and the small clutch. (And leave your wallet at home-- use the clutch as your wallet-- one less item to bring along.)
