Has anyone gotten cash from OASIS casino in 2016?

On past cruises, I have been able to get cash at the casino cashier. My account is linked to a credit card, but the cash amount reduced the OBC on my account before adding a charge to my cc. Has anyone been able to get cash recently at the casino?

We were able to get cash at the casino on the Christmas cruise.

You should be able to get cash at the casino using either your sea pass card linked to a credit card or refundable OBC with a 5% surcharge. The question for me me would be are they enforcing the restriction on RCCL OBC conversion to cash in the casino. Here is part of a post someone else posted on a similar question.

Guest services will not give you cash until the last full day of your cruise.

Thanks I didn't know it was only on the last day since that is always when I went down to get any unused OBC as cash from guest services.

Yes you can still get cash from the casino and avoid the 5% fee if your account is set up as a cash account. You could very rarely get cash at guest services prior to the last full day regardless of how your account was set up.

 

There have been reports that on some ships the casino is giving out vouchers which you then have to insert into a slot machine and then get a payout slip to take back to the cashier to get actual cash.

Failed attempt at limiting cash withdrawals as there was an easy workaround. I was reading something over on the Celebrity boards and it appeared to be even more restrictive...maybe their systems are more advanced.:eek:

Interesting read on the subject over there. Someone said that they were given promotional chips that had to be gambled so they put half on the black and half on the red in roulette.

I have about $200 for OBC from my Visa card for my cruise in 4 weeks. I was hoping to take that at the casino to use. Is that going to work? I can find other ways to use the credit but I was planning to use it for the casino instead.

Yes, you can still take cash out at the casino, but they will charge you 5% if your onboard account is secured by credit card.

Thanks for all the answers. My OBC is non-refundable. I understand that RC would prefer that I spend it on board, but that doesn't fit my budget as well as cashing it in. I don't even mind paying the 5% surcharge. However, if they start enforcing the no cash policy, it will have an effect on any future bookings I make that offer OBC. In that case, I won't prepay gratuities, so the daily gratuity charges will come out of my OBC, along with Internet Access.

 

I don't drink alcohol or gamble or eat in the upcharge restaurants or shop in the high end stores on board, so the OBC that must be used on board is not much of an incentive for me. I'll stick to getting the best price possible when sailings are first announced. (That worked for the cruise I have booked on Harmony for 2017.)
