Cruise disembarkation plan?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately we have to take a 1:50pm flight back home after our cruise in May from the Fort Lauderdale port/airport. We usually have an early flight and do express departure. Well with such a late flight what should we do? Is there a good place to hang out and just wait til our turn to disembark? Any ideas?? Thanks!

Unfortunately you cannot hang out on the ship to wait for a later flight. They will want you out of your stateroom by about 8:00 AM to start turning your stateroom and off the ship by 9 - 9:30 latest so they can clear customs by around 10:00 for the next passenger boarding to begin by about 11:00.

You will receive a set time to disembark and depending on your cabin deck you will report to a specific lounge within the ship to wait until your luggage tag color is called.

You can wait by the pool area if you like before you gather your luggage. But, once you're lugging your bags you'll want to just go to your designated spot and wait to be called for your time to debark.

It best to wait at the airport rather then cruise ship. This way enough time to disembark , custom agent, taxi hunting, traffic to airport, line to check in security at airport. 130 pm is near the end of the rush back home at the airport, so there could be a delay from other passengers in front of you.

I don't know about FLL but at Southampton UK Royal did a late departure (2.30pm latest) for an additional $35 per person can use all the facilities. We have used it a couple of times - I don't know if they still do this.

Royal offered that late departure option in Europe (don't know if it's still possible), but not in the US.
