The Lost Coffee Card Club...

Never lost one but I keep mine with my cruise card in a plastic sleeve. Don't have to take it out if not getting it punched and if the ship name is visible. Usually if you go to the IC enough the staff will know you have a card and have your brew ready as they see you approaching :)

I got a coffee card for the first time and kept it in one of those leather detachable ID/card sleeves often found in men's wallets. Showed it and only took out if I needed it punched. I was very worried about losing or ripping up the card on accident so kept it in the sleeve.

This is one of the times Princess should get with the times (technology). How difficult would it be to 15 punches to your cruise card. Scan it when used.

I don't like that idea, since I currently have 2 cards that all of the punches are not used. How would that work on a future cruise? It might work for those who use all 15 punches on 1 cruise, but how about the rest of us?

Is the material, of the card, stiff enough to have a hole punched & wear it on a lanyard along with the key card?

It is more than just a piece of paper, but less than cardboard. I think it would tend to fall apart. Plus putting the punch in could cost you a punch.

Also, how would you know how many punches are left?

Our son lost his the first night after using it only one time in the dining room. He swears the assistant waiter never gave it back to him. But the waiter said he did.

We never thought of going to the PSD to check for it there. Just bought another one.

I lost my coffee card on the Regal last year. Not one hole was punched!!! This time I am inserting it in my lanyard w/ a plastic holder along with the key ID card. It will be the first thing I pack in the suitcase for our next Princess cruise.

Small, thin cards like they issue get lost or damaged easily. Perhaps Princess budgets that into the cost knowing that a certain percentage will go by the wayside.

Yep - another member here. I've only lost it once. I went to the lobby bar and asked if someone had handed it in. Yep, someone had. However as my penance.....the nice server who sold it to me kindly didn't write the name of the ship on the back :) , but the guy who gave it back to me noticed and made sure the name of the ship was clearly written before handing it back :( ...
That's not a problem. The punches are still good on any ship. The free brewed coffee and teas are supposed to apply only to the original cruise anyway.

But then you could only use it on one cruise.

Unless policy has changed, the 15 specialty coffees are honored on any ship when you sail at a later date. It is only the specialty teas and brewed coffee that are honored for the cruise that you are currently on.

Policy may have changed but that is what we have experienced in the past.

I am a member of the club!! On the Crown a few years ago I lost a brand new card on the way back to my cabin immediately after purchasing in the IC - not one punch, not a stain, pristine. There was absolutely no compassion from the baristas, nor do I blame them.

I was really bummed until I hit 2 large casino jackpots on that cruise so losing the coffee card quickly became a distant memory.

Have never lost my coffee cards on the ship, but have misplaced two cards at home somewhere. I thought that I had put them in with my passports when we got home thinking when we do our next trip, they will be easy to find, but got on the ship and could not find them, so I purchased another one. I know have three cards each with some punches left on them. I know they are at home someplace, just not sure where they could be. Hopefully will find them before the next cruise.

The post by 'Pushka' was in response to the suggestion to use technology by adding the 15 specialty coffee drinks to our cruise card to replace the coffee card.

Since Princess puts stickers on cruise cards for soda packages they must not have the technology to add info to our cruise cards nor a way to read them for soda which is unlimited. So it's doubtful to me if they have a way to read the number of remaining coffee drink punches on another cruise where the old cruise card is invalid.

I've read about enough computer snafus on Princess & even if they added software to add it to our cruise cards, I wouldn't want to depend upon unused coffee drink punches to be useable on another cruise. As you said remaining punches are good on another cruise & I prefer an actual coffee card than hoping that technology will allow me to use my old cruise card to get them. ;)

Luckily I have never lost a coffee card.:) I carry a small purse around with me with my cruise card, coffee card and a couple of other items. I only take out the coffee card when the waiter/waitress stops over and once it is punched, I put it away.

If we have any punches left, I put the card with my passport and other papers when leaving the ship (:() and it is ready to go for the next cruise.

Now where did I put my passport??????:D:D

I am part of the club. Had seven punches on the card and now can not find it for my upcoming cruise. Last used on an April cruise on the Royal. Guess I will jsut have to get another one and take better care of this one.

I guess another possibility would be before "lift off" take your coffee card to Kinkos, or some like place, and have it laminated.:D. I admit that might be a bit of a reach.

WOW...there are so many of us in this "club" so apparently it's much more of an "inclusive" than an "exclusive" club! :p

Apparently coffee cards are like any gift card which I've read have a high rate of not being fully redeemed thus making them very profitable & is why companies are eager to sell them to us. ;)

I love my coffee card and it is the first purchase I make when boarding the ship. We are some cheap cruisers, in general, but I feel like the coffee card $ is well-spent.

I always have my I-Pad with me on the ship. I slide the newly purchased card in the back of the I-Pad case, it stays protected and I have it with me when I need a beverage. I tend to use it mostly for the White Orchard tea (awesome tea, if you haven't tried it) and large brewed coffees to go and save the punches to use for gelato (one punch for a fancy gelato sundae on Royal Princess).

We are packing to leave on the Caribbean Princess this coming weekend, and I discovered I have 18 punches on two separate cards to take along. Unfortunately, the CB doesn't have gelato, so I may use them on fancier coffees this time.

We actually will be taking our coffee card on our 3rd cruise. A little worn, but still a couple of punches left!

A few left on my card also. Decided to put it away with my passport until my next cruise. Spent far too long looking for it last week. Lol. Luckily, I found it just in time :D

Yep, last year joined the club for the first time. Previously always kept the card in a waterproof case w/cruise card. Couldn't find the case pre trip last year for the first time in probably 10 cruises and sure enough, my loose card got loose. Just bought a new case for upcoming cruise!

I had two of the OLD King of Cups cards that were paper. I got them on a BOGO offer on the Ruby Princess in 2010. I had read on here numerous times that they were still good. We didn't cruise for several years and they stayed in a zippered compartment in my wallet. One had 3 punches and the other had never been used. I heard that they would exchange them for the newer cards since you couldn't read the old paper cards.

In 2014 we took a 4 day cruise and I got flak from the crew about this OLD card and they told me to wait and exchange them out when we went on our next cruise to Alaska cruise in May of 2015. (I didn't understand why they were shining me on) I stuck them in my cell phone case to protect them from any more wear and damage. In February of 2015 my cell phone got stolen and there went the cards that I held onto for 5 years...
