Can anyone recommend parking in Miami near the cruise port?

Never heard of Overtown? Ask anyone who lives (or lived) there. For all those folks who have used off port parking and never had any problems....wow, you are the rare ones! We lived in Miami for the past 20 years and we wouldn't park anywhere except right at the port. The parking garages are right across the street from the terminals. If you spend thousands on a cruise, paying $20 a night at the port should be no big deal. We moved to South Carolina last November because Miami in general is becoming more and more like Overtown. I used to defend Miami but living there in the past few years was enough for us to want to leave.

We used Park and Go. Very efficient and quick for shuttle drop off and pick up. They run continuously to and from. Price was substantially lower than the port parking especially if booked on line ahead of time.

I thought park and go is out of Fort Lauderdale. I tried to find them for Miami but I could not find anything. Do you have a website for park and go Miami?

I have heard a lot from people who have heard about break in at off site parking, but have not heard anything direct from those who have had problems. I sure would like to hear directly from the injured party.

If you use the search function on this board you will find many threads about off port parking in Miami; several cruisers report no problems and saved $$ while others offer horror stories of vandalized cars, overcharging and no show shuttles.

It's your car - do you feel lucky?

Look at these recent posts on a recently resurrected thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1526035

Premier Cruise parking in Miami,Fl

This place is a parking disaster. I returned from a cruise on 3/18/16 to find my vehicle covered with airborne paint from an adjacent construction project to this parking ramp. This is a dangerous place to park. Premier mgmt. won't give you the time of day. They could care less. Later I read the google reviews on this parking facility, and found that others have experienced damage to their vehicles here.

Global Parking d/b/a Premier Cruise Parking
Nightmare of a company to do business with!

We always have parked at the Port Garage but at midnight the night before our cruise we booked an online reservation. Yes we were lured by the cheap price. Huge mistake! There was torrential rain the next day and opted not to drive ourselves. We phoned Premier/Global and got a recording. We kept calling and finally a man answered the phone and we advised we needed to cancel our reservation and while he couldn't do anything he said we should leave a message. We did as instructed. Our charge card was charged. We called the credit card company to dispute the charges since we never used their facility. We escalated a dispute. It's been 4 months and we thought the matter had been resolved until tonight when I went to pay bills and noted the charge disputed was back. I need to call the Resolution Department and some how submit a record of the cancellation. Big mistake booking online. Save yourself the time, the headache and the aggravation ... park onsite and have peace of mind and 100% less hassle. Our customer service was zero and we are still fighting it. I would go out of my way to never use these people.

As was recommended earlier just do a search about off-site parking in Miami and you'll find other stories. The folks on this board who recommend parking at the port are either locals or frequent cruisers (and none have a monetary interest in the POM facilities since it is owned and operated by the Miami-Dade county government).

Nope.

I have done lots of google search. There is just no good parking lot in Miami. I think Miami port is just too big and too many people and I read lots of people waiting to get on and off the van and waiting for 1+ hr or more. The parking lot is OK if there are less people.

We will be heading to Port of Miami over Christmas break. I had planned to park right at the port.

My questions are: Do I have to reserve parking ahead of time to park at the port or is it first come, first served? Does the parking fill up quickly?

Thank you.

There is no way to reserve. You will have no trouble finding a spot. Several thousand people will be finding their cars and leaving just before you arrive.
