Miracle and Splendor going to China

Supposedly booking the ships will be done through Costa, or so I've read. Perhaps they will have it separate like Australian cruises. They haven't said much about it.

In Splendor's case, I believe they're waiting on word for the date the widening of the Panama Canal will be completed. The ship had to sail around South America to get to/from the West Coast previously.

It has been said that cruises from China will only be open to people who live there and EVERYTHING on the ship will be in Chinese.

Where was that mentioned?

I'd find it a little hard to believe they wouldn't advertise at least some over here or abroad. While China would (of course) be the focus, I can't imagine them limiting it to Chinese only.

Still think it is strange that Carnival is sending two older ships and competition is putting new ships there.

:o maybe because Carnival is not pumping new ships into the run, every year like many other companies are. They seem to only put a new ship out ever two to three years. :o Just my uneducated guess. as usual, I am most likely wrong:D

Miracle seems to be staying through 2017.

Carnival Corp.has made a deal to launch a domestic Chinese cruise line building ships there for that purpose. Perhaps they have changed their minds about sending ships there from the fleet they already have? Perhaps not?? We shall see.

Here is an article about it:

Yes' date=' Stu (golfadj) that is a head scratcher.[/quote']

The Miracle was built in 2003, Splendor in 2008.

Princess hasn't stationed new ships there. Sapphire and Diamond Princess were built in 2004. Sapphire started in China just over a year ago.

Carnival is building ships in China for the Chinese market, and flagging them Chinese in order to get around China's version of the PVSA. While I don't think the cruises will be limited to only Asians, the ships, amenities, menus, and activities will be geared towards the Asian market, and I think many Western cruisers will be disappointed with the product. More casino, less bells and whistles.

Royal is the only line in Carnival's realm dedicating some of its latest builds to the Asian market longer-term. Princess' date=' Celebrity, Costa, etc are there with older ships as well. Spirit Class ships are good for market entry, and Splendor is the oddball in the fleet (and is coming up on it's dry dock). The two best candidates to go.

It's already been announced that the Miracle and Splendor are going to Asia. And I dare say the Vista's sister ship in 2018 will be heading that way.

A good possibility, but I suspect Texas will get the second Vista Class (hopefully giving Liberty back to the East Coast )

Or send Breeze to the West Coast. Hey I can dream, can't I?

That has been stated on Carnivals social media when people were asking about booking the ships when they go to China. Something to the effect of everything will be redone in dry dock to transfer everything over to chinese.

They would have to do something with the check in area if Long Beach was to get a Dream Class. Getting on and off the Miracle was a huge mess. At least the days we were there anyways.

I agree! We took the Splendor on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii. When we got back disembarkation was a huge mess. There were so many suitcases in zone 3 that there were no aisles between suitcases so it was impossible to get to your luggage. People were walking on top of other people's luggage to get their luggage. I dropped my throw, but could not get back to get it without the fear of being trampled. A port employee was trying to move some luggage to get to someone's luggage saying," I am not suppossed to touch this luggage once it is in a zone." She said this was the first time they had handled such a big ship that had been on a longer voyage where people had so much luggage. A lady whose husband was blind was crying and saying, "I will never cruise again" after her husband was shoved and fell. It was an experience I would never want to repeat and we have not sailed out of their since even though we can visit my husband's brother in CA and then take a cruise.

I boarded the Miracle in Long Beach last month and it was a disaster. Took us 2.5 hours to check-in and get onboard. We were standing outside in the rain, wind and cold.

Just so you guys know, the Miracle is not going to China early 2017 as planned. It is now leaving early 2018 and Splendor leaves for China early 2019.

Carnival Splendor is returning to Long Beach in 2018 but leaves the Carnival fleet for P&O Australia in 2019.

The Miracle goes to Tampa in 2018.

We are booked on Splendor to Hawaii in Oct. 2018, so she will be here awhile.

Carnival Splendor is not going to China, nor is the Miracle. Splendor is doing a sailing maybe more to Hawaii in 2018.
