Rare Paula_MacFan Posted February 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We are on the CB now. Due to high winds and diesel generator issue we are docked in Naussau Bahamas today with 4 other ships. Captain announced it around 6 last night. Better than another sea day since we already have 2 of those left. Great trip and weather otherwise so far. Enjoying our first suite!! Great time. Rare Kellie in Texas Posted February 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Thanks for the update, Paula. My parents are on this cruise with you. I noticed the ship was in Nassau today and I didn't remember them telling us that it was a stop. They aren't really beach people so I don't think they will be too disappointed about missing Princess Cay. Looked like you had a gorgeous day in Key West. satxdiver Posted February 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We will be boarding the CB when you return to Bayport Sunday. We are doing a B2B so the second week, 3/6, we will be going to KW, PC and Freeport. I was aware of your cruise but thought you were doing a similar itinerary but going to Nassau instead of Freeport. These are the only two cruises out of Bayport that are going to the Eastern Caribbean. Take good care of the CB, bring it back on time and in good working order so that we can leave on her Sunday afternoon.

Rare Paula_MacFan Posted February 26, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Caribill - haven't heard any more about the generator. We may have had repairs done yesterday in Nassau. We seem to be on course and so far no talk of coming back early.

Rare Paula_MacFan Posted February 26, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We just left the first officer navigational presentation. He said we are running on 5 of 6 generators and it will take a week to fix while underway. No changes in arrival at this time

sunsetbeachgal Posted February 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the update and good luck. Honestly it is nice that you got a port rather than another sea day. The times I have sailed and missing Princess Cay, have never had another port substituted. When we were on the Coral in Early Feb., just after her dry dock in Freeport, the ship experienced issues with the thruster and an engine, which eventually was fixed. It affected our schedule by about 12 hours, and a port was missed. But not to fret, Princess took care of it and we received compensation. satxdiver Posted February 26, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We just left the first officer navigational presentation. He said we are running on 5 of 6 generators and it will take a week to fix while underway. No changes in arrival at this time I love going to the bridge officer presentations as you learn a lot and can ask questions like generator issues. Thanks for going and getting the information. When you arrive back at Bayport, we will be waiting to board. Take good care of the CB. Ships are required to have redundancy which in this case means extra generators so the ship can continue to sail on a missing generator. These are very large generators and difficult to work on. By being in port, the electrical power requirements are immensely less since they are not having to power the motors that turn the screws. Generators can be taken off line to work on them. Nassau has a major airport where parts can be shipped in on scheduled airlines easily. Yes, I would not shed one tear about PC being replaced with Nassau. eclue Posted February 26, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 26, 2016 CB is apparently having operational issues - our cruise in Jan was delayed due to a repair on the thruster...now this......possibly this ship needs to go into dry dock for an overhaul but I know it is headed for a TA in April!!!! Still we are looking forward to our March 6th sailing - just a s long as we get out of Texas waters so we can enjoy the casino, etc. eclue:rolleyes:
