Grand princess 8:15 dining?

First time cruising on Princess and we currently have anytime dining but after reading these threads I am thinking I might like to move to the late seating at a table for 6 or 8 (there are 2 of us) for a chance to make friends.... but I am wondering if this dining time would be a bad choice for seeing the nightly shows? I don't want to miss them just because I am sitting in the dining room. The 6pm dining is waitlisted and we prefer eating later anyway. Any opinions or guidance? Thanks

We usually do late traditional dining. We go to the early show and then go to dinner. Sometimes they move late dining to 7:45 which does make it a little tight.

There will be at least two shows every evening (except maybe for the welcome aboard show) timed so that both early traditional and late traditional diners can attend one of them.

Sometimes the show for the late sitting is before dinner and sometimes it is after.

We've always preferred the late traditional dining, since most of the families with kids eat early. The late dinner is usually much more relaxing and calm. An added bonus is that the wait staff is not hurrying you along to finish so they can set up for the next seating.
