Emtbsam Posted March 8, 2016 #26 Share Posted March 8, 2016 Not long to go. Trivia team assembled.CD Moss. F & B Nicolas. It's going to be a great X-ing with so many friends on board. Sounds like the perfect crew. Good luck in trivia. Wish we could be there.
englishusa Posted March 21, 2016 #27 Share Posted March 21, 2016 EnglishUSA: Yes not long now. Question: Did you have tryouts for your Trivia team, or did you actively recruit the members with promises of compensation or something other? Seems as if the challenge gauntlet has been thrown down... Will there be the boat building challenge this crossing? do you know if Donato is in LaT? see you aboard! Trivia team assembled from previous winning teams. and there is even a waiting list! I don't think Donato is back yet. I believe Francesco is still at La T. Rare spinnaker2 Posted March 21, 2016 Author #28 Share Posted March 21, 2016 Trivia team assembled from previous winning teams. and there is even a waiting list!I don't think Donato is back yet. I believe Francesco is still at La T. A waiting list! Just amazing. We will have to ask for you all to drop your buffs, a la survivor, and mix up the teams midway. That would make it really interesting, and even the playing field. :-)
Rare spinnaker2 Posted March 26, 2016 Author #29 Share Posted March 26, 2016 The cruise draws nigh! It apparently isn't full yet, but getting closer with only 20 suites available, including the top tier. Anyone have any insight into the weather going forward? I see Hamilton is in the 70s. Looking forward to the cruise!
specialcruisegirl Posted March 26, 2016 #30 Share Posted March 26, 2016 Spins....it's coming around so quickly now! I'm finally quite confident that I'm going to be on board!! Just two weeks today I'll be starting the journey to Fla...keeping everything crossed. Haven't looked at the weather but on the same voyage last year we sailed into a wet and dreary Bermuda so hopefully it will be better this time! I seriously wonder about the weather, since you did this same cruise last year, was it chilly? Tropical, semitropical or? Significant other has intolerance to cold after living in this climate of south Florida for so many years. He'll need to pack lots of layers. Happy packing! specialcruisegirl Posted March 26, 2016 #32 Share Posted March 26, 2016 To be honest Spins the actual crossing was both calm and not too cold...nowhere near tropical or semi though...but just nice enough to be able to wander around the decks with a jumper or jacket on. We did however miss the calls into the Azores due to stormy weather which that captain avoided so we had more sea days into Lisbon...which sadly was quite chilly and wet when we arrived......hopefully it will be warmer when we arrive in Spain! Lioncub Posted March 27, 2016 #33 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Wishing you all a wonderful and fair weather trip. From friends that will be travelling I hear it will be more of a reunion than a meeting! Now, I don't want to be a one trick pony, but with all those great days at sea does anybody fancy doing a comprehensive wine review? I'm thinking a full demystifying of the dark arts of the complementary wine list. A top to bottom look from champagne to desert wines. Apparently there are up to 50 comp wines. I'm sure many of us on this forum would be very interested. Maybe even start a daily wine thread. Anyone up for the challenge?
Rare spinnaker2 Posted April 2, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted April 2, 2016 If Moss is your CD, study up on rivers, mountains, countries bordering other countries, and, of course, Zimbabwean rock bands like the Beatles. I have been madly studying and reading Wikipedia and Wiktionary. Problem is the short term memory loss ....and all that knowledge becomes ephemera. I am lost in the Stygian morass of over preparation. My brain runneth over! Back to packing. I am speaking gibberish.

Wow, Candy! I admire your dedication. I hope I can keep up! I will be lucky if I remember my toothbrush, let alone what river flows though where or what mountain range divides the recently developed countries..... Look forward to seeing you in less than a week!

Lioncub Posted April 5, 2016 #37 Share Posted April 5, 2016 If Moss is your CD, I would add airport codes and computer acronyms to your study material. Who knew JPEG meant 'Joint Photographic Experts Group'! Though we could be in danger of taking this too seriously.........[emoji851]
Rare spinnaker2 Posted April 5, 2016 Author #38 Share Posted April 5, 2016 OMG, airport codes. Trivia is so stressful. Maybe best not to play... Only five days to cruise lift off. I can barely contain myself. The smile just takes over. Silly isn't it? The thought of the open water with nothing on the horizon is exhilarating! The vastness of the ocean, the waves breaking against the ships hull, the turquoise and white colors of the wake we leave behind us, just a brief mark that we were ever there. :-)

I have a copy of the complimentary wine list dating from Jan 2015 I don't know how accurate it is now but perhaps it may be starting point for you. I cant seem to be able to attach it as a PDF though but if you are interested, let me know and I will post it in sections ( unless I can sort out the PDF) Rp
Lioncub Posted April 6, 2016 #40 Share Posted April 6, 2016 Yes please! I thought the included wine list was a thing of myth and legend. Even one a year out will give us a great starting point to which we can amend. An arduous task I'm sure, but someone has to do it.......[emoji12] That is assuming you lucky lot on the Transatlantic don't polish it all off before we get on! A big thank you rosepark, cant wait to have a peek.
