Bleueyes44 Posted March 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2016 Yes there is a bus, you get transfers from RCI. The bus picks up early from TF Green Airport. I actually spoke to someone yesterday from RCI, the price is $109 per person. Just call Royal or your TA they can help you.

Academy Bus/entertainment Tours is no longer providing the service as of 2016. If there is a replacement service, many folks would like to know. Bleueyes44 Posted March 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I know my sister used a TA in RI that got her the transfers. If i'm not mistaken i'm not allowed to name any TA services on this site. That being said, I was speaking to a Casino Royale rep 2 days ago, and she checked transportation from RI and she said yes from TF GREEN Airport in Warwick, RI. I assume she got her info from RCI site, because she had me on hold while she checked. Hope this helps.

The RCL site is not known for always having the most current information. The bus service was recently cancelled, but that doesn't mean that everything throughout the web has been updated. I don't want to get hopes up until we can confirm that there is a replacement bus service.
Bleueyes44 Posted March 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I just called RCI and they do not have a bus service, they info I received from Casino Royale rep was incorrect. My sister used the service about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Let me make a few calls and I'll get back to you.
Bleueyes44 Posted March 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2016 I spoke to my sister and she did use it over a year ago. I then called our TA and he told me it has been discontinued, some dispute between bus company and cruise lines. The only suggestion he had was take the train from Mass or RI area to Newark Airport then use bus transfers or taxi service. Sorry for the misinformation I give earlier, it will teach me to call and recheck everything I am told on the phone.

The problem is getting to Bayonne. NYC cabs are not required to do that trip. If they do take the trip, they can charge you whatever - at least double meter fare plus tolls both ways. Plus most taxis have no idea where Cape Liberty is. Car Service from Manhattan to Cape Liberty typically runs $100++ with tolls and tip.
diva.diva56 Posted August 25, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Does anyone know of a current bus service from RI to Cape Liberty cruise port in NJ? Apparently the cruise lines are no longer offering this option.

One of the criticisms I had of Royal Caribbean International (and Celebrity Cruises) when it decided to move from New York to Bayonne was the lack of transportation to Bayonne. New York is readily accessible and walkable while Bayonne is not. Although a few few number of bus lines have taken a chance with bus service direct to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, it is the exception rather than the rule. There is local public transportation to Bayonne, but none that goes to Cape Liberty itself, nor is Cape Liberty readily walkable. In short, Cape Liberty is an awful place to get to (other than by private automobile). Nothing direct from Rhode Island. At best, you can travel from Rhode Island to New York (both Amtrak and Peter Pan Bus Lines do that well), but the gap to Bayonne is not good. There's a bus from New York to Bayonne (New Jersey Transit route 119), and trains from New York to Bayonne (PATH subway to Hoboken or Jersey City, connecting to New Jersey Transit light rail), but all the bus stops and train stations in Bayonne are distant from Cape Liberty and require either taxi/TNC service or an uncomfortable hike. Why muck with going to New York when by staying on the train for fifteen minutes you can get to Newark Penn Station, an easy taxi ride to Port Liberty?

dazey Posted August 30, 2022 #20 Share Posted August 30, 2022 we are planning to take the train from westerly, ri to newark for our cruise in may out of cape liberty and was just quoted yesterday 90 dollars round trip pp. what with flights being approx 300 pp and the problems with airlines we hope this will be a good alternative. have not taken the train in many years so the 3 hr ride might be fun. anyone know how we get from train depot to newark airport for our shuttle to our hotel for overnight stay apologize for no cap; cap key is messed up

The answer is going to depend on where your hotels is, so if you tell us what hotel you're staying at someone can give you a precise recommendation. You could: Take a taxi or Uber from Newark Penn Station to your hotel and forgo the hotel's airport shuttle. Take the train to the Newark Airport station instead of Newark Penn Station, then take the airport's AirTrain to the pickup point for the hotel shuttle, which is usually P4 . This will mean paying a higher Amtrak fare.
dazey Posted August 30, 2022 #22 Share Posted August 30, 2022 we are staying at the renaissance newark airport hotel.will make sure we take the train to newark airport and grab the shuttle at p4. may change train fare but think it will be worth it. thanks for information. mjkacmom Posted August 30, 2022 #23 Share Posted August 30, 2022 It’s 4.4 miles from Penn station to your hotel, probably a $20 Uber for both of you. It’s probably cheaper and definitely quicker to just take an Uber from Penn station.
