we're going on the Allure next Sunday. Have a reservation at a hotel near the airport and are looking for suggestions on reasonable-cost way to get transportation to the cruise terminal. Transfers thru RCCL are sold out. Called Super Shuttle but got an outrageously high quote.

Suggestions?

The taxi will cost no more than $20 and is only a 15 minute ride....it is VERY easy. Ft. Lauderdale is the easiest cruise port EVER. :o Have a great time on my favorite ship/:D:D:D

How lucky you are that RCI transfers are sold out...but am surprised...since this is one of the quickest and easiest ones to do on your own.

Also just curious...if you're staying at a hotel how were you even going to use the transfers....go back to the airport morning of cruise....

Yep Tax or Uber are the best bets, some Hotels have a transfer service.

Uber is great but keep in mind you could get anything from a Toyota Corolla to a Cadillac if you don't upgrade. It may pose a problem for your luggage.

Like others have said;

Call a taxi, it will be there when your ready to go, and you will not have to wait for anyone.

Costs around $20.

Enjoy

We have gotten our cab 2/3 times from the Embassy suite, they are waiting at the curb, but the bellman try to push the shuttle, so you usually have to walk or wave for a cabbie.

Once we did the Embassy shuttle cause it was right there, stuffed in wall to wall, then waited for the luggage. Not doing that again.

Enjoy

Too funny. Last time we were there the concierge suggested a taxi. :D He was right. We had trouble getting through the waiting crowd in the lobby the next morning.

I was quite aggravated with dh last November when he bought hotel shuttle tickets for us. When we checked in, the desk clerk told him that "cabs never come to our hotel so you better buy our shuttle". What?! We had always taken a cab before!! So we end up in a long line waiting to board a shuttle and then the shuttle stops at 3 ships before we stop at the Allure. Each time we stopped, everyone got off the shuttle to make sure their luggage didn't get taken off by mistake. It took forever to finally get to the Allure. It was a royal pain and never to be done again. Dh learned his lesson.

Agree totally with the taxi suggestion. We stayed at the Renaissance in January. We had signed up for a shuttle the next morning...$10pp. It turned out to be a complete cluster **** in the lobby. We demanded a refund, then grabbed a cab. $20 and 15 minutes, including the time spent getting through Homeland Security checkpoint at the entrance of the cruise port. Also consider that any shuttle will likely make stops at different ships. A cab takes you straight to your ship.

I have to say in Miami the Doubletree shuttle was great and cheap and thankfully only 2 of us. [emoji41]

It was funny the other kid was mad I was a minute if that late. It wasn't like Sky was going anywhere for a few hours. Then he kept me over payment for driver. If you are worried about $7.00 you are in trouble. He then asked if their was an ATM on ship. I didn't have the heart to speak on how ripped off he was going to be on that.

Taxis are the way to go! As other have said going to airport come out of pier terminal big line of taxis waiting for your business.

Have fun!

When we went on the Allure in 2013, we stayed at the embassy suites near the cruise port. They picked us up from the airport, took us to the cruise terminal and picked us up when we got back and took us to the airport, all for free! We did have to wait for it for awhile when we got back but we weren't in a hurry.

"Nothing" is free. It is included in the high cost they charge to stay at their hotel....just like the cocktail hour they supply. You are "paying for it". :D....but if that works for you...GREAT. Sometimes convenience is worth it's weight in gold. :):):)

mmmmm

Stayed there---2013, 2014 and 2015.....no free shuttle were provided at any time.

And we are loyalty members in the program, the only thing we get is free water and early rooms.

Just saying.

Safe travels.

The Embassy Suites offers a Cruise Package that will pick you up at the airport, take you to the Cruise Port and pick you up at the Cruise Port if you are staying there after your cruise. Not quite what I consider free seeing it is over $50 more then just booking a room. Some people must consider that free.

Oct 2014, no included shuttle for us, either, not from the airport nor to the cruise.

From the airport the cost was decent and the service was very good.

To the ship, UGH. Cost more than a taxi would have and took ages because there were a few big ships and we were on Vision, and were low priority.

We didn't have the cruise package, though, and actually had a terrific rate that I don't consider high at all. :)
