Is Celebrity OBC refundable?

On our cruise, we are getting Pre-Paid Gratuities, Premium Beverage Package AND $350 OBC.

As is looks now (until we are on the ship and try the Casino trick) we will have to spend the OBC on Merchandise, additional tips or possibly excursions.

Any other ideas from the readers of this thread?

.

Besides specialty dining (which will run you about $50 per person per meal), you might like to spend it on photographs (there are various packages available, and the individual prints are shockingly expensive), or some internet access.

Little confused

Will be on Silhouette in May.

Let's say I take $200 in OBC to play machine. After an hour of playI wind up with $250? I can only get $50 back? Rest still stays as promotional chips?

This is what I did… Every time I won something from the machine I "cashed out". That gave me a ticket for the amount of my winnings. This is where you need to be careful though….any promotional credits you haven't used, will still be left in the machine so don't just walk away thinking that you're done.. Just continue to play until your credits are used up, "cashing out" whenever you win something.

You will get the feel for how to do this when you are sitting in front of the machine. It works rather nice actually. (By the way, the Magic Money slot machines were quite loose on our cruise…!)

No, it depends on how much of your original $200 you have played. The promotional credits play first regardless of how much you may be winning, so it's conceivable that the whole $250 could be winnings. Think of it as the $200 is play money and doesn't become cash that you can take with you until you win it.

Your non-refundable OBC can be used as credit for goods and services in other areas of the ship but the casino credits only give you entertainment value and the possibility of winning enough to take it off in cash. It's the same way with your own cash...no guarantee that you will win anything when you play it.

If ship denies the 5% draw then take promotional chips.

Go to Roulette wheel and put 50% on red and 50% on black(short of green 0 and 00), you will win on hand and and lost the other. Take those casino chips (no longer promotional chips)and then cash out.

I wonder how long it will take them to figure that one out. If everyone starts doing it you can be sure it won't be long.

OBC used to be refundable but sadly no more.

There is still OBC that is refundable including gift cards, purchased OBC and gifts from your TA, if it is actually from them. The OBC that is part of the promotions or directly given by Celebrity is non-refundable.

  • 2 months later...

I will be on Millennium on 8th of July for Alaska. Have $300 credit from celebrity and $450 from TA. I have booked all my tours outside of ship, have gratuities paid for 2, classic alcohol package and beverage pkg for 3rd person. Does not gamble at casino. I can use part of gratuities for 3rd person but still will be left with over $600 in OBC. Can you help me how do I use it or get a cash back. Dont mind loosing 5%

If you go to the casino cage and ask money, they will ask you if you have OBC. You can get it, but it will be in the form of casino promotion chips, for table play, or loaded onto your Seapass card for slot machine play. Not in cash.

Your OBC from your travel agent may well be refundable, which means you would only need to worry about spending the $300. You might like to purchase internet access or some photographs.

We had $80 non-refundable left at the end of our cruise two weeks ago and we ran it through the slot machines and cashed out about $50. Not a great yield, but best we could do.

I would like to charge back our excursion fee to the OBCN. Can this be done when we board?

In other words, we paid for the excursion on our CC, but I want to credit our card and then use the OBC to pay for the excursion, will they credit our card in this case, anyone know?

We had that experience with specialty dining with RCCL, had to pay for the reservation up front, but when we boarded we went to the venue and they credited our card and took the OBC instead. Just hoping we can do same with X for the excursion.

We were on the Solstice last month and this was our experience.

At the casino we could only take non-refundable OBC in the form of promotional chips for table games, or have a dollar

amount loaded onto our Sea Pass card for use in the slot machines.

At the tables, when you bet the promotional chips and WON, you received your winnings in "real" chips AND retained your

promotional chips. You eventually had to lose your promotional chips as they could not be cashed in or credited to your account.

At the roulette table, they would NOT let one person place a bet on both Red and Black (or Even and Odd) on the same spin.

Regarding using the Additional Gratuities Form from Guest Relations, we do not know if the person we designated ever actually

received the gratuity that was specified.

Also, at the end of the cruise we had a non-refundable OBC of $.55, which WAS credited to our credit card after we returned home!!

Hopefully this will help clear up some of the confusion on this subject.

Mike
