BA Cirque Question

Bird.... the question specifically set the criteria that they CHOSE to go to Cirque.... so the answer is YES.... they use a SDP dinner and pay the upcharge

They did not ask if it was a better value which is completely subjective.... if this is the only chance to see Cirque and they have world class steakhouses or Italian restaurants where they live...... then Cirque is absolutely a better value

They can use the 3 SDP meals elsewhere and pay regular rate for Cirque.

Dude, the answer is "NO".

You choose where you want to use your SDP. Just because you book the Cirque does NOT mean that you have to use one of your SDP meals. Two weeks ago we were on the Escape and had 10 meals (between lunch and dinner) at Specialty restaurants. We chose which of those 10 meals where to use our 4 SDP credits, where to use our Platinum Latitudes free meals, and where to use of dining credits.

The specific question was "does going here take away one of the dinners". No. Just because you book the Cirque does NOT mean you HAVE TO use your SPD.

And the answer to the second part of the question is "YES" you have to pay extra and yes, you will have to pay the 18% gratuity on the upcharge.

you are correct... I mistakenly assumed that the question implied they were choosing to use one of the SDP credits not that they were questioning if it was mandatory to use one of the SDP credit to attend.

Actually I think the correct answer isn't yes or no ...but rather "Maybe" :)

If they choose to use the Cirque as one of their 3 credits (still paying an additional but discounted off full normal charge) then the answer is yes.

They can also choose to book it separately from their 3 credit package (paying full price plus the 18%) In which case the answer is no.

As a side note on Cirque, we attended last week on the B/A - during dinner, Evelyn's purse fell to the floor and five twenties and a casino ticket fell out. She didn't notice the loss until we left the show and went to the casino. Yikes!

We went back to Cirque, explained what happened, and were led to the staff who found her money and turned it in to GS. He walked us back to GS and helped her retrieve her money. Amazing! I slipped him a ten and reported his honesty on my post cruise survey.

We had a 4 UDP and used it for 3 specialty (Cagney's, Tepanyaki and LeBistro) as well as Cirque. I don't have an upcharge - perhaps because I pre-booked on line?

The upcharge would have been paid online at the time you booked as part of the checkout process.

Ok, I get it now. If I choose to use one of my 3, it will cost $10 or more depending on seat; otherwise, I pay full price. I don't think I want to give up one of 3 or pay full price. I saw it about two years ago, and it was always full price then. We're going with friends, who want to go to the show, but, I think we'll let them go without us. I would rather go to Cagneys twice and Le Bistro once.
