Rare niksmom630 Posted April 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Do you bring your own floaties or lifejackets for your children? Or are they available for use at CoCoCay? We saw children's life jackets on our February Brilliance cruise, but it specifically stated they could only be used on board the ship.
cb at sea Posted April 21, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Floaties and personal flotation vests...you need to bring them. The lifejackets are for EMERGENCY use only....if the ship is being abandoned!
3happyferrets Posted April 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Floaties and personal flotation vests...you need to bring them. The lifejackets are for EMERGENCY use only....if the ship is being abandoned! Are you sure? I thought I saw a pic of them for use on the ship like they have at water parks Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
reallyitsmema Posted April 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Floaties and personal flotation vests...you need to bring them. jmf123 Posted April 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Incorrect. There are lifejackets on racks on the pool deck for kids to use in the ship pools. Lifejackets for kids are pictured (on Allure) in this thread, in post #9: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2337214.
LuCruise Posted April 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2016 On the Allure, you could check out the life jackets for the pool use, so we used Royals on the ship. However, they couldn't be taken off the ship. We bought our own with us and took it to the beach with us. (Can't talk about CoCoCay though)
racerxspeedy Posted April 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Just of Navigator. They have lifejackets for use at the pool on the ship. On Cococay I beleive you will need to supply your own. I did see a women ask for a jacket on Labadee and the guide was nice enough to give her one. Have a great cruise
babyblue78 Posted April 21, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Check out the Puddle Jumper style vests. Easier for the kids to play with them on but they are Coast Guard approved. They pack well too.
ColoradoGurl Posted April 21, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) You may as well buy your own if it's important for you to have them for your kids. We went to some ports last summer where we ended up taking a boat ride over to another part of the island, and the locals who run the boats don't provide life jackets for anyone. So even if it's not for swimming, you may want them for boat rides or tours you may end up on. Costco has some really nice ones for like $30 if they're not sold out yet. Lerin Posted April 21, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Even if they are provided we always bring our own. That way we can be sure of correct fit and good quality.
Summerknight Posted April 22, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2016 There was a nice choice of life jackets on Vision this winter. I was told all of the ships have them now for use on the ship.
LuCruise Posted April 22, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Even if they are provided we always bring our own. That way we can be sure of correct fit and good quality. On the Allure they had 3 different sizes. But I agree that it's good to bring you own for the ports if you are going near water.
Rala Posted April 25, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Floaties and personal flotation vests...you need to bring them. The lifejackets are for EMERGENCY use only....if the ship is being abandoned! Wrong info again CB...we just came off the Adventure a few days ago and there were pool "floatie" devices available for passenger use in the pools onboard. It would be soooo helpful to those asking for info here if you would check your info BEFORE you post it.
