Sun Princess skipping ports

Recommended Posts

The current cruise (Singapore - Fremantle) missed out on Kuala Lumpur this morning and the following one (Perth - Sydney) will miss Yorky's Knob (Cairns).

Word is a faulty generator?? Has anyone heard from someone on the ship?

You'd think that the dry dock would have sorted any issues out .

Hj Anna,

Stu , Kiwi-cruisers and his family are on board. They were given a letter on embarkation that advised due to technical difficulties...(faulty generator) they could not maintain full speed . KL was therefore cancelled and everyone received a $100 OBC.

editing to add..

just checked Marine Traffic AIS and they are in the Malacca Straits and cruising along at a very healthy 20.5 knots. Thats not going slow...

Nothing irritates me more about cruise lines skipping ports because of faulty or broken engine parts. It is dishonest and if the ship is broken and ports cant be completed and all it ends up doing is embarkation and disembarkation then the whole cruise should be cancelled and ship sent for immediate repairs.

I just checked Marine traffic AIS and they are racing along at 20 knots off the coast of Singapore .

Does it take 2 days to get to Bali?

I think they could do it in 1 day.

At the rate they are going they might arrive in Bali a day early.. :):)

Wonder if they cancelled KL a bit too early?

An article posted on the Princess board says that the ship will be skipping a port on its next cruise too, so the engine problem must be a tough one to fix.

Aware of those two missed ports (KL and Yorkey's), but so far she's doing OK. Touch wood that it's the last of the missed ports.

As David mentioned , maybe a premature decision to cut ports on the 2nd cruise (Frem - Syd)
