Princess Loyalty levels....

May be its just me :) The mark of a well dressed man is a nice shined pair of shoes. I understand lots of people could care less about dressing up anywhere anymore. Ever see a man in a $500 suit or tux With scruffy shoes? Now--to me--thats silly :)

IMHO The best Princess perk is internet minutes for Platinum members after only 5 cruises is unheard of on other lines. OBC option for Elites would be nice....What if you dont drink alcohol or coffee.

As a lady, i would know nothing about that. And, yes, we dress for dinner every night. Not just formal nights.

I forgot that one, but I must be lucky because even before when I lined up with the lowly gold and blue card people I never waited real long.

You're were very lucky :) The last Sea day before docking from a Caribbean Cruise can see a huge line form. Most Elite members (at least I do) check their bill for unmade charges often instead of waiting for the last day to dispute something and standing on line.

Lady's have it so much harder than we do..:)....put us in a pair of dockers and a polo shirt with shined shoes and we are ready for dinner. I too dress (as mentioned) for dinner nightly:)

Lol, the gowns I have aquired over the years would blow your mind. Now that I live here in Florida where things are more casual, I will likely not be quite so formal on ships anymore.

If you live on the West coast, you can sail in a Suite as a solo for 2 one night cruises (3 points each) at a cost of $149 and be Platinum. Or, sail 8 over night cruises at prices as low as $39 and become Elite. Its the 'hole' in the way Princess allows you to move up the Loyalty ladder. Wouldn't be surprised if Princess eventually move to a 'Days at Sea', (not # of cruises) way to earn loyalty level only. That's for another conversation :).

I think Princess knows exactly what they are doing. They are filling more cabins with those rules.

I remember when it was. I was on the Dawn Princess in 2004 and I was only a platinum member at the time.

Tony

I remember it also! What a great perk! That is one perk I used as I don't drink alcohol or coffee so the minibar setup and wine tasting is a waste for me. I vaguely remember getting it in 2003 in Alaska.

Maybe one day when and IF Princess ever upgrades their internet like other lines have, we may get it back.

Yep.....an empty cabin can't drink, gamble or pay $39 for Curtis Stone. Heck :) if I could avoid giving at the casinos , move to Seattle, I could sail almost for free:cool:

Now some OBC, that'd be nice.

IIRC that starts after 25 cruises or 250 days. Every free $$$ is nice.

There's no specific tier after "Elite" but the 20 most travelled passengers (in terms of days on Princess) generally get lunch or a cocktail reception with the Captain.

The three most travelled passengers get presented with a glass memento and a bottle of champagne.

Its automatic and the good stuff starts when you get to Platinum, this is after 5 completed cruises or 50 cruise days....free internet is great!

If only it was unlimited.:D

Just be careful with your laundry. Though free, warnings on expectations are now being discussed.

The free internet USED to be unlimited - but sadly no longer. It is quite possible that the free laundry may eventually get to be limited.

I'd gladly do without the stateroom afternoon tea, the shoe polishing, the formal night canapes, but I NEED MY FREE LAUNDRY! It's so convenient when flying transatlantic with limited luggage allowances.

There is a lot of money invested to reach each of those levels. Considering the current economy I'm surprised that the cruise lines aren't doing more to keep their passengers loyal. I'm not looking for more perks I'm just surprised they aren't out there. I've noticed more people shopping around to get the best deal rather than sticking with just one cruise line. I've also noted more people are less willing to overlook certain "foibles" that happen on the cruises these days ... elite status or not. If they have a bad trip they are switching to another cruise line so I think the loyalty door swings both ways as it were. LOL

MSC have taken the lid off "loyalty" by offering to "status match" people who have earned loyalty with other lines and giving them the nearest equivalent status on MSC.

Not that I'm leaving Princess - nor am I saying MSC are better - but I have found that they have some good value itineraries in Europe so we do cruise with them from time to time. The loyalty match will be a welcome bonus for us.

Hum, that’s something to think about. I live on the Gulf Coast, not the West Coast, so I wouldn’t get a locals discount; but even with airfare included, I might be able to pick-up 4 quick points doing a b2b out there for less than going the 6 or 7 night route down here. I took a quick look at what Princess is showing for short cruises out there later this year and I see two right off I could possibly put b2b on the Ruby Princess (Seattle-Vancouver & Vancouver-LA in Sep) that would put me within 4 points of Elite. I may just check into the cost of airfare to see how it works out. Last time I was in Seattle was back in 1970.

I've read that & I'm wondering just what does being Elite on Princess get you on MSC? I couldn't come up with an answer from reading their web site although it doesn't appear to be much of anything.

Be interesting to see if anyone else follows suit.

If RCI did so, I'ed switch in a minute for a few cruises at least. Just being able to watch a few new stage shows would be nice once in a while. Princess is so predictable at times it can get a little boring.

Very interesting. I love Princess but I might give it a try??

Princess has one of the most generous loyalty programs among cruise lines. That is why so many passengers stay loyal.

I agree, we cruise Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, and Cunard... we have the most cruises with Princess though.
