Princess Australia- Sea Princess World Cruise 2016

Doesn't look like where we docked. We walked to a Russian Church on the top of a hill, before walking in to the city. Great port stop, so there will be lots for passengers to see and do in Helsinki. I love Finnish design, so visited their Design Museum.

We were docked there...bit out in the boon docks . NCL had a shuttle running , but there was also a HOHO bus that had come out to meet the ship and they were offering a shuttle both ways plus a city tour and time to explore on your own , so we took that.

As I post they are about 2 hours away from their main Baltic highlight , St Petersburg. Looks like a busy time ahead for their 2 day stay. Following them in is Sea Cloud II ,Regal Princess and Mein Schiff 4 . Already docked for their 2 day stay , are Oceania Marina and Norwegian Star....a busy port and with so much to see you need the full 2 days.:)

The sun is just rising as they approach St Petersburg..

Hope it is not too hot for them, no A/C in the hermitage, peterhof or the palaces, etc and with so many visitors and tourists from the ships, it can really get quite stiflingly hot.

Yes, it can be hot, because it is crowded during "white nights" in summer. We were taken in through the exits, at the hermitage and palaces, by our guide. The queues were so long we would have only been able to visit one place a day otherwise. You need the two full days in port, some ships stay three days.

We were absolutely boiling as it was high 30s and low 40s. People were dehydrating and the locals were drowning as they cannot swim (especially when drunk).

Lots of people in port today. The town is very easy to navigate around without a guide if the miss out.:D

Agree it is easy to navigate around...we walked/scooted there and all was fine until we tried taking a short cut on the way back...those cobblestones and the multiple culverts in the pavements were dire for the Travelscoot...but loved the old town and we were the only ship in that day.....

Just checked progress on AIS as they were due in Warnemunde, Germany, but the tracking shows that they have swung away and are now headed to Keil.

Anyone heard anything?

I wouldn't think it is due to the weather, must be a berthing issue.

from Angie and Pauls blog...Why the missed docking at Stockholm...

This morning we were going to be docking at Stockholm but due to some unexpected heavy traffic conditions while en-route, along with a forecast for fog while coming into Stockholm we had to have a slight change of our itinerary. The Captain made the decision to instead go to Nynashamn instead of Stockholm, which was slightly disappointing because now we won’t get to travel through the archipelago but that is the nature of cruising and you just have to take the good with the bad.

Hi we are on the Sea Princess at the moment and yes we missed Warnemunde because of very high winds. The port closed and no vessels were allowed in or out. We are heading straight to Dover now for an extra day there. Angie
