OK y'all so I'm back. Hopefully I have figured out the problem I was having uploading my photos.

 

So we left Orlando, FL on Thursday, April 28th. We drove from Orlando to Miami. We were flying with TAP Portugal Airlines. We flew from MIAMI to LISBON to VENICE. We decided to fly into Venice rather than the embarkation port of Trieste because flights were so much cheaper. Our overnight flight seemed to go rather quick. I can never sleep on flights. But we had a big selection of first run movies and television shows on the flight

 

Pedro was ready for his first flight to Europe. Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews will remember Pedro and all his adventures

 

We arrived at the airport in Lisbon around 6:00 am. This airport was HUGE.

 

We had about a 3 hour layover in Lisbon but the time went really quick because we had to go through customs and through security again

 

Our flight from Lisbon to Venice was uneventful...it was about a 2 hour flight. We arrived early, collected our bags, and headed out to find our transportation to our hotel in Venice. We had arranged for a private car to our hotel through GoGo Transportation

 

This was our ride to our hotel....a brand new Mercedes

The ride from the airport to our hotel in Mestre took about 20 minutes. We were both exhausted from the flight and the 6 hour time change. We arrived at the hotel and we were able to get checked in early

 

The lobby of our hotel. We were staying at the Best Western Bologna. This hotel was right across the street from the train station

 

 

Our room was pretty big...I was quite surprised. I have heard horror stories about the size...or lack thereof with the size of hotel rooms

 

You know you're in Europe when you're sleeping in twin beds

 

The bathtub was HUGE

 

Anyone know what the thing on the right is....and no it's not a sink....haha

Europeans LOVE their coffee

 

We decided to lay down for a couple hours because we were both exhausted....that was a mistake. We laid down for about 4 hours and we were even more tired when we woke up

 

When we woke up we headed over to the train station to take the train into Venice

 

 

The rail system in Europe is very complex...and the people are very dependent upon it

 

I've got my first Italia Rail ticket

Once we arrived in Venice we took a boat ride down the Grand Canal....this was absolutely beautiful to see the architecture along the Canal

 

 

The Gondolas are everywhere in Venice

I had never seen so much junk/crappy souvenirs piled onto one cart...ever. And that's saying a lot considering that I have cruised in the Caribbean

Yes the Gondoliers in Venice actually do wear the Where's Waldo shirts....LOL

The Love Locket bridge....there is one in Paris as well. I guess Venice decided that they wanted one too

 

 

So after a confusing 30 minutes or so in the train station in Venice trying to figure out how to purchase our return train ticket as well as finding which platform it was on....we finally found it and we headed back to our hotel. I was ready for some dinner and my bed

A little midnight snack...Real Italian Ice. It was soooooo yummy. Any guesses on what the white flavor was....and it isn't vanilla

 

So that ends our first day (all traveling through Miami and Lisbon) plus our second day in Venice. Venice was pretty but I am just getting warmed up. The best is still yet to come.
