Anyone know what the thing on the right is....and no it's not a sink....haha

 

It's a bidet, basically a sink for your bum to get you extra clean :o lol. They're very common all over Europe. I'm loving your pictures so far! :)

Italian ice flavor-lemon?

 

 

Great pics...I'm doing a similar sailing in two weeks, though on a different cruise line..also flying Tap Portugal into lisbon. How did you find the airline company?

So we slept in the next morning at the hotel...we were still trying to get in that extra rest to re-coop from the jet lag. I was having a harder time with it than my friend was because she works nights...it easier on her.

The hotel offered a free breakfast....which was very good

 

The breakfast was European oriented with meats, cheeses, and croissants

 

The seating area for breakfast was quite large.

 

That is OJ on the right. It is vitamin enriched OJ...not sure what that means in Europe but it was good

We checked out of the hotel around Noon and we decided to just hang out at the hotel until it was time to head over to the train station for our train to Trieste

 

Not sure what this little thing was....but it was good

 

Oh they put my name in lights in the hotel...haha

We were taking the 4:45 pm train to Trieste. While we were waiting on the platform for our train we ran into a few other people who would be cruising on the Carnival Vista

 

Next Stop....Trieste, Italy

 

We bought first class Italia Rail tickets. I am not sure how much different second class seating was. But the seats in first class was comfortable

As we were cruising along on the train....I looked off to the left and noticed this....The Italian Alps. They were beautiful

 

The mountains were beautiful...they even had snow still on them

 

 

Our train trip to Trieste took about 2 hours but it was a very scenic ride and I really enjoyed the train trip. Our rail tickets were $24.00 for both of us

 

We arrived into Trieste and the Costa Mediterranea was in port. We had heard through our roll call that as soon as the Costa ship left that the Vista would be pulling in at the same dock....I guess we will have to wait and see

Our hotel was at the Palace Suites hotel. When Laura made the reservation she made a slight mistake and made the reservation only for one person. So when we arrived they had us in a twin room...that woulda been a little too cozy. So the hotel upgraded us to the Penthouse Suite....OMG. This was without a doubt the nicest hotel room that I have ever stayed in. It was beautiful and HUGE

 

Every French Door was a balcony....we had 8 balconies. We were on the 5th floor

My guess for the Ice cream flavor is BANANA :). Have been to Italy a few times and OMG the Ice cream is amazing!!

I hollered for Laura to come out onto the next balcony

 

You could still see the top of the Costa ship so I knew that if the rumors were true that the Vista was pulling into port after the Costa left that we would be able to see it from our hotel....one can only hope

 

We even had an espresso machine in our hotel

 

 

 

I had never quite seen so many instructions for how to use a remote before

The only downside to the room...just one bed but the couch folded out into a bed as well
