kb0000 Posted May 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) When we planned our cruise from Moscow to St Petersburg, we selected the company that made the most stops between the termini cities, the only cruise on offer that stopped at Kostroma, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip along with Uglich & Khizi Island. All the other stops were second rate in comparison, especially Mandrogi which is as fake as Disneyland. Kostroma was the home town of the Romanovs, who ruled Russia from 1613 to 1917. The first Romanov Tsar was Prince Mikhail Romanov, who accepted the job upon the request of delegation of Boyars who came by river from Moscow to Kostroma (just like our cruise did) to offer him the job of ruler of Russia. We stood on the very spot where the Prince met the Boyars. But history is just part of Kostroma's attractions. There are the wooden houses that survived the Great Fire 1773. Catherine the Great rebuilt Kostroma after the fire and created one of the most delightful Baroque cities anywhere. We got to see Kostroma on our cruise, but haven't seen an itinerary since that includes it. That's worse than bad news. That's screwing you people who pay good money for a Russian river cruise out of one of the best things you can on such a trip. Do your best to find a trip that includes Kostroma Edited May 26, 2016 by kb0000 wrong font

Rare geoherb Posted May 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 27, 2016 I thought it was my monitor at first. I changed the magnification to make the OP easier to read--and then I couldn't read the responses because they were so tiny.

loubetti Posted May 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted May 27, 2016 I agree, the font is too large! :D Just use the default size, most of us can read it. Big fonts does not = more attention.
NurseDave Posted May 27, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Yep, gave up reading too. I've always wondered if those that use larger fonts on a regular basis don't realize people that can't read small type just change the size of everything on their monitor anyway. Indeed, just hold down the Ctrl key while tapping the + key, and it enlarges very nicely each time you tap the + key. The - key reverses it. My girl friend has some serious vision issues, and we use this method all the time to enlarge the screen for her. Besides, one needs to use HTML code to increase the font size- you won't see it on the screen anyway until you post. Bigger is not always better! I think that's exactly what they were trying to do since they had another post in normal size.
SadieN Posted May 27, 2016 #14 Share Posted May 27, 2016 Normal size on my phone. Couldn't figure out how they were doing Russian River cruises. Guess it's only Californians who think a Russian River cruise is a canoe trip. http://www.russianrivertravel.com/canoeing.htm Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Thanks I would love to use a smaller font, but I can't figure how to do it. What seems obvious seems not to work & Cruise Critic seems not to provide instructions. celle Posted May 28, 2016 #17 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Look at the top of the box you post in. Top left, it says "Fonts" and beside that is says "Sizes". Select the down arrow and various font sizes will appear. Choose the size you want. Simple!

Rare John Bull Posted May 29, 2016 #19 Share Posted May 29, 2016 (edited) Go to http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=225 where you can play around with a post, trying out different fonts, adding pictures etc, to your heart's content with no-one to disturb you or chide you :). Make use of the "edit" button (bottom right on your post, available for about 20 minutes after you've posted) to change what you've posted. You can also use that edit button for about 20 minutes on any other forum too, including this one. Yes, Cruise Critic takes a bit of getting used to, but well worth the effort. Your post is much more readable like this........................................
