Does anyone know where I could find this at any of those ports? Thanks! http://www.takustore.com/ or http://www.salmonetc.com/ by mail order as they are in Ketchikan. We have bought from both places. BTW - there is no reason for your coworker to have stuff picked up in AK as they can order it from Salmon Etc at any time. That Is wher we get all of our AK salmon. diesel1973 Posted June 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Most of the gift shops sell Salmon Jerky. It comes in different flavors so be sure which type he wants. Every year I get 2 packages for my friend,Teriyaki and Original flavor. WallyMart has the best prices.
wolfie11 Posted June 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2016 My favorite is from Taku Fish in Juneau on the docks next to Twisted Fishes. It comes plain and peppered. You can try samples. A good sized bag is $10.
Rare island lady Posted June 9, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2016 Agree, sometimes it is best to simply order it online and have it shipped direct. Some ship lines, and especially at customs, will have rules on transporting food. Might be a good idea to check on that first.
jeffbrig Posted June 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2016 Oh, I loved the King Salmon brand that I got in Alaska a few years back. I bought a few extras and brought them home without issue. Have also ordered some online since then. One warning....don't go hiking in bear country with any of this in your daypack, lol...
gpb11 Posted June 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2016 You couldn't swing a cat and not hit a place selling smoked salmon jerky. Still, just as easy to order from Amazon and distribute when you return: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=smoked+salmon+jerky

Rare island lady Posted June 15, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) Keep it away from ceiling fans... Oh no...that's terrible. Obviously baited the poor cat with that low hanging cord. And the owner kept filming it. Sick puppy. :( Edited June 15, 2016 by island lady

Sick puppy. :( It's a fake. Didn't really happen. The video was part of a (proposed) Nokia commercial several years ago. Budget Queen Posted June 15, 2016 #13 Share Posted June 15, 2016 My favorite is from Taku Fish in Juneau on the docks next to Twisted Fishes. It comes plain and peppered. You can try samples. A good sized bag is $10. This is also my priority vendor for salmon. Quality is high and I am picky. What I've found there are differences in salmon in Alaska. Especially useful dealing direct with the ability to try a few samples. I consistently get excellent salmon here, including another batch this year already. :)
chewap Posted June 15, 2016 #14 Share Posted June 15, 2016 You can make Smoked Salmon Jerky yourself. Make sure you get fresh salmon at the market ( I catch my own). Put the salmon in the smoker 3 hrs longer than regular smoked salmon.
Putterdude Posted June 19, 2016 #15 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Another vote for Taku Fish in Juneau, they carry a very wide variety of salmon products. My fave is Indian Candy which is sweeter and not as hard as jerky. http://www.takustore.com/
BOAZ5 Posted June 25, 2016 #16 Share Posted June 25, 2016 I can't cast enough votes for Taku in Juneau!!! Absolutely amazing! You will probably buy yourself a bag or five after you taste their free samples.
