Specialty dining using OBC

We have a fair amount of OBC and would like to book the 3 dinner specialty package once on board. Is this possible or does it have to be booked prior to boarding?

You usually can only use OBC when on the ship. Make your reservations when you board the ship and use your credit at that time.

Typically there are lots of specialty dining packages offered as you board. We have found that they offer better and better deals as the cruise goes on if the restaurants are not selling well. Like so much else, it is supply and demand.

I've heard of people booking the specialty restaurants ahead of time, paying for them, then going to the CC loyalty person and asking them to refund that money so they can then use their OBC to pay for it. To me, that seems like a lot of hassle.

Better to book once onboard to use up that OBC. We're in the same boat.

Upon boarding the ship there will be people trying to get you to sign up for dining packages. If you know that you are going to be eating in the up charge restaurants, you can purchase a premier dining package which allows you to eat all your dinners in the up charge dining rooms, one lunch and a tea service. If you divide it out, it comes out to be $29/meal or so. I would recommend that and you can use your OBC

We have OBC from X and our anniversary is on the second night so we plan to book Tuscan Grille as soon as we get on the ship. It's just easier than booking ahead and trying to work it out once onboard. We've never had a problem getting a reservation in a specialty on any cruse we've been on. We've also seen the pushing of packages almost as soon as you board.

We have waited till on board the last 3 cruises to book.

First thing we head to Murano and do the 3 or 5 night booking with someone there, not the sales table by the buffet. We have never had a problem getting the day nor time we wanted.
