andymattmom Posted July 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2016 (edited) I booked directly through NCL. When I called my big box store travel agency to cancel my RCL booking they said I could request NCL transfer my booking to them and I'd get the big box store travel promos in addition to my NCL ones. The promo is a $590 big box store travel agency cash card upon completion of the cruise. I found the form and filled it out BUT am afraid of losing things! Has anyone transferred a booking from NCL to a travel agent? Were there any issues (I have dealt with the big box store travel before and had no issues). I know NCL wouldn't give me that amount in onboard credit but could I try to negotiate with them to get maybe 2 soda packages and 2 dining packages with them (significantly less than the $590)? It's no biggie if it can't be done but the $590 would be nice BUT I don't want to mess up my reservation. I do realize that if it is transferred over that NCL won't speak with me about my reservation. Thanks...the cruise isn't until May 2017 and I have NOT paid in full. I didn't know if I could put the name of the big box store in here so I didn't! :) Edited July 3, 2016 by andymattmom
ptuder Posted July 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2016 We have done it and all promos transferred. I don't recall but I know it had to be done within a certain time of original booking.

Pebbs48 Posted July 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2016 I transferred my reservation recently for June 2017 cruise originally booked through NCL with no problems. Kept the NCL promos plus got the big box store's OBC offer. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

A $590 cash card is a very good incentive, and no, we can't mention their name here as they are a TA. As far as NCL negotiating with you, they will not. They never price or promo match with any TA offers. But, they will not be upset that you are transferring. Our PCC has always been very helpful in giving us info on how to get it accomplished. As far as NCL talking to you about your booking after the transfer, they will still answer general questions about the ship, etc., but they will not be able to handle things like payments, cancellations, cabin changes etc. You will still register with MyNCL and book dining and excursions directly with NCL either on the website or by phone and print out your boarding passes and luggage tags from the website. Casino Comp Chick Posted July 4, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Has anyone had luck transferring a CAS reservation? Would I lose my CAS perks? Thank you Your personal perks are based off of your casino tier. (You would still get any perks associated with your tier such as dining/spa credits) but you would have to go to the casino desk to get your card instead of it being in your room. Your cabinmates would lose the casino drink card if they are not rated themselves so you would lose that perk and depending on which port you sail out to of you would not be able to check in and get priority boarding after suites & HC passengers. I honestly cannot think of a reason to move a CAS booking as they are the best prices anywhere unless you are booking extra cabins with 10% off only, then it may pay to look elsewhere
xcell Posted July 4, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Can you transfer from one TA to another? Or only from NCL to a new TA?
Rare LMaxwell Posted July 4, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Can you transfer from one TA to another? Or only from NCL to a new TA? To transfer from one TA to another there has to be a compelling reason / documented non-service by your current TA. Then NCL can pull the reservation back. I am not positive if they will allow transfer from one TA to another at that point. To the OP, I have done exactly what you are asking and kept my original promos plus the added T/A benefits, no problem with that as long as it is done in the proper timeframe. Cafedumonde Posted July 5, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 5, 2016 Personal Cruise Consultant (An NCL phone rep). Thanks for the response! I think we have one of those. We put a hold on a cruise online and then someone called us and wanted us to finalize the booking. We did with that person. Does he get a commission? If so, would he still get it if we transfer the reservation to an agent? I want to transfer to an agent but feel bad transferring to another agent if he loses a commission. I don't think anyone knows exactly how a PCC is compensated. Look at it from NCL's standpoint. A PCC assisted you in booking a cruise. He "got" the initial booking for NCL. Whether or not you transfer the booking, NCL still has a cruise booked by you. I can't see them penalizing the PCC for this decision on your part. Of course they will have to pay a commission to the TA, but that is a fact of life in the travel business. When I've had conversations with PCCs about transfers, I've never had the slightest hint from them that it will be a negative for them.

This system is foreign to us and we are trying to figure it out! Until now we have only sailed with dcl and gotten OBC through a TA. Unfortunately our TA only does Disney and Royal, so we have to find someone new. It seems like from your experience that the PCC probably gets credit for the initial booking or they would not let you--- or make it harder to- transfer.
