Recommended Posts

Are the cabanas only available for rental by guests staying in suites ? Has anyone rented one and was it worthwhile ?...thanks

The cabanas at Barefoot Beach are available to suite guests and Pinnacle Club members.

The cabanas at Nellies Beach are available to all guests.

I think it really depends on when you are going and what ship you are going on. We went at the end of May this year and it was extremely hot. We were lucky enough to get a cabana and it was well worth it. The entire family really enjoyed being able to get out of the sun under the shade and relax with the fan blowing on us. For our family of 6 it was worth it because of the prices for all of us to do an excursion together. The attendant was very good, giving us as many floats as we wanted, a ride back to the ship and anytime he saw us without a cocktail, he would go get us one. To us, because of the heat when we were there, it was great. I would imagine that if we were cruising when it was a little cooler than it was, we probably would not have appreciated it as much as we did. To us my kids (they are all over 18) just thought like the cabana enabled them to cool off and get away from everyone and relax.

BTW we booked ours about 2 weeks before the cruise after someone must have cancelled, because up until then the website said they were sold out. Also they had quite a few open cabanas that day, that they rented to people who asked "is that one available?" Don't know if people didn't show up, or they were never booked, but either way there were open cabanas that day even after the website said they were sold out.

1st time on Labadee we wound up in beach chairs and no sun umbrella. That is something I do not want to experience again. They ran out of umbrellas!

Next cruise we did the Cabin at Labadee for four of us. Very nice.

Next cruises will just be DW and I . Those cruises will take us to Labade. We are Crown Loft then Owner's suite on those sailings. I suppose we get whatever they offer at Barefoot beach so I don't think a rental is needed?

If I need an upgrade I have to do it as DW's skin is way too light whilst I tan easily!

For our trip on Anthem all of the Barefoot beach cabanas are only available for Grand Suite guests and above. The Only cabanas for the rest of us are the ones on Nellie's beach. On top of that we are still several months out and only over the water are available for $450. That's too rich for me, so I booked one of the clamshells for $35. I am very fair skinned so I need some shade. It's not as fancy as a cabana but it'll do

Thanks, we will be with 4 grandkids staying in balconies on the Allure. We want to make it a full day and we need the shade. Is there a limit to how many people can use the cabana ? When can they be booked, we will be traveling school vacation week in April ....thanks again!

Max of 6 people.

6 is the max, but there must have been at least 10 in a cabana near us. Not sure if they charge for more than 6, but they def had more than 6.

Those must have been the folks to whom rules don't apply.;)

Just a guess, but they could have all been suite guests but they only rented 1 cabana. For all purposes you could literally have 20 people in one, even though you have wrist bands for 6, The catch is they have to have access to Bare Foot Beach.:)

That being said the last thing I want in my quiet cabana is a dozen other people.:p

Not worth it to us. It's very hot there and we like to be in the open where there is circulating air. No problem with shade, there is plenty of it. You can move your beach chair as the sun moves. Loads of palm trees giving great shade. Your gc will probably want to be out and about anyway taking part in activities

6 of us shared a cabana @ Nellie's for the first time in May. It was very enjoyable. The attendant took care of several cabanas; would get drinks if we asked and waited just out of the enclosed area to take care of our every wish. It was a little bit of a walk to the bbq area but when it was time for lunch we rode 'in style' on one of the smaller 'golf' carts right to the pavilion and when we were done, we were picked up and driven back. Then we also got rides back to the ship. Split 6 ways, it was lovely.

We just rented the over water at Nellie's a couple weeks ago. It was expensive but well worth it for a group in my opinion. Plenty of shade and easy access. A few other things:

1) while 6 is the limit, the cabana next to us had way more. Probably 8-10 with kids.

2) you get 2 float mats included. We asked for two more and got them for free. I will note we tipped the attendant up front.

There will be 10 in our party total, but probably not all at once at the beach...we can work in shifts of 6 for the cabana. Truly appreciate all the feedback !:)

You will only get 6 wristbands if you get a cabana at Barefoot beach, and they do not come off easily,so you can't switch them with other people. I don't know what the procedure is on Nellies beach, we have only been on Barefoot.

I don't think there's really any strict controls based on what I saw a few weeks ago... particularly since you can just swim up to the ladder. Tip the attendant up front and I can't see them making a stink.

We have rented cabanas twice, both times got standard beach front, and we felt it was well worth the money. However, we only paid about $250 both times even after the price increase.

I believe everybody gets a wristband upon entering BB. They will escort you to your cabana. I think the limit to six is really direct toward how many people you can bring in to BB who wouldn't otherwise have access to BB or the cabanas. As stated, once you gain access to BB there is really nothing to keep you out of a cabana as long as the "owner" lets you.

I saw the beach attendants kick people out of vacant cabanas and I saw a couple of kids jump the fence onto BB. Since they didn't have wristbands they didn't last to long before staff kicked them out.

We did get approval to bring seven, but one was only three years old.

I am not sure it's worth the new price for OTW, but with small kids the beachfront was more than worth it.

Curious slightly tangential question, are there any appreciable differences between the CoCo Cay cabana club experience and the Labadee Barefoot Beach cabana experience? We've done the CoCo Cay cabanas and strongly considering doing the cabanas at Labadee in January (we will be in a GS on Indy). Any significant differences between the overall experience?

Barefoot Beach is much better than the beach at CocoCay, IMHO. Also more private, as only suite guests/pinnacle guests and cabana guests are allowed at Barefoot Beach, so less people.

The beach is also closer at Barefoot Beach, where as you have to leave the cabana area at CocoCay to access the beach.
