How to SUCCESSFULLY Make a 7:50A Flight on Disembark Day - Allure/Port Everglades

This seems very doable. Stressful and zero room for error or delays, but doable.

We didn't even leave our cabin until 6:45 for self, walked all the way out with 2 kids and plenty of luggage. All the way through the parking lot, loading up kids, and drove home (20 - 25 minutes from port). We were home before 7:20. If you are one of the first off, taxi straight to airport, straight to security (because you have boarding pass on phone), etc.... I see this as totally doable.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! We fortunately won't have kids in tow. Just carry-ons! :)

Yes. There's a special queue for holders of the Global Entry card. Allows one to zip through passport control at Port Everglades. Was glad I had it the last time.

Sorry for the dumb question but is a tsa precheck number the same as a global entry card. Again sorry but I just got my tsa precheck number and don't know all the uses yet. Thanks

No. Global Entry gets one TSA PreCheck, but TSA PreCheck does not get one Global Entry. The security clearance for Global Entry is somewhat stricter than for TSA PreCheck, so it is possible (but probably rare) than one could meet the requirements for TSA PreCheck but fail the requirements for Global Entry.

As experienced cruisers, we know not to book early am flights on disembarkation day. However, due to an involuntary airline schedule change and other circumstances, we have no choice but to book a 7:50A flight out of FLL. Rebooking our cruise, flying out of MIA, taking a later flight or overnighting are not options at this point. We will also be packing light and traveling with only carry-on bags.

What else should one do or consider on disembarkation day in order to make the beeline?

Night Before: Pack Standard Sized Carry-On Bags

5:30A - Mobile Check-In via phone

6:00A - Line up for Self-Disembark

6:30A - Disembark

6:40A - Global Entry/Passport Control

6:45A - Taxi from Port Everglades to FLL Airport

7:00A - Check in Bags up until 7:05A cut off point (Otherwise, self-carry bags onto aircraft)

7:05A - Proceed to Gate

7:20A - Boarding

7:40A - Doors close

7:50A - Take off

I wouldn't do it. One 5 minute delay and you will be spending the night anyway. There are always delays.

Pray to the almighty travel lords of the universe, and bring a box of tissues with you to the airport in case you don't make it and start crying from all the stress.

I think if I picked a travel date that had that little flexibility for getting home, I probably wouldn't go. But that's just me.

Forget 750 flight.

We usually book the later flight, but then high-tail it to the airport and wind up on the early flight-in they will switch you to the earlier flight for free. Win win, no stress. Worst thing I saw one time was an immigration problem- one person would not clear for whatever reason; no one was allowed off the ship until about 10 am. Nightmare. But it can be done if all stars align, so I am cheering for you!

Just looked at your timeframe again.

You must really walk quickly! I could see 10 minutes from disembarkment to passport control if the walkways, etc. were totally void of other passengers, but you won't be alone. How do you plan to pass those not rushing so much? I am thinking of the escalator, for example, and the actual distance you have to cover.

Also passport control to actually being seated in a cab and moving away. It doesn't take long but I think your estimate of 5 minutes is a stretch. Again, good luck!

We'll have our reliable running shoes on! We'll also be traveling light and with just carry-ons. We'll also be first (or second) in line for self-disembark. Probably most important is the adventurous spirit we'll have. And if we don't make it to the gate in time, we'll take the next flight and send our regrets to the dinner party hosts who are already aware of our situation.

Which airline? This is pretty rare. Most charge at least a $75 change fee, in my experience.

WOW. You will never make that flight. You would have a tuff time with a 8:45 flight. The line at airport secure at ffl on the weekend will be crazy. Even if you have a first class ticket. And had a suite on the ship with the genie walking you off. Good luck.

Hi

Normally Oasis/Allure has pretty decent record of ontime arrivals, but I see your schedule does not give any rooms for any kind of delays which can occur unexpectedly on the departure morning. The Global Entry line is not open during express walk-off as the area is closed for luggage. I will suggest to advise Guest Services about your situation maybe one of the officer can escort you in the morning and put you in the very front of the line in Customs when they starts processing passengers.

Good luck:)

That's actually a good idea. Who would be the appropriate officer to ask? Guest Services? The Diamond concierge? We will not have access to a Royal Genie.

Either would work, the concierge is part of the Guest Services department.

What a lousy way to have to end an otherwise (hopefully) relaxing vacation. My attitude every time I travel may help you - always expect the worst, and hope for the best. That way you're less likely to be disappointed or stressed. Either way, best of luck to you.

That's the plan! We refuse to allow the potential disappointment or stress to affect our cruise or state of mind.

I'd move the lining up part earlier, say 5am.

Same. Even on Vision at FLL people were lined up AGES early.

So, you switched airlines after the one that messed up the timing couldn't get you an early flight?

As I see it if you are with the original airline and you miss that flight it is on them to have to rebook and cover costs of the flights/airport.

BUT, if you already switched then YOU booked that flight time and YOU would be solely responsible for the incurred costs of missing it.

The airline will still help if they miss it; it's just the nature of airlines.

But it's weird that the OP had a change, got a refund, then booked a very difficult flight!

Plan B is to simply catch the next departing flight. This would mean missing an important, recently-scheduled dinner event back home, something we'd really prefer to not do. Should this happen, it'll be a case of - "it is what it is."

Aha.

We usually book the later flight, but then high-tail it to the airport and wind up on the early flight-in they will switch you to the earlier flight for free.

You must have status with the airline(s) you use. That's not normal or typical.

OP, keep an eye on that flight that it doesn't change!

Guest Services... ask to speak with the assistance front desk manager... surely they will be able to help you... explain the situation and that the only solution that you had was the 7:50am flight... Taxis, they will be plenty at the time debarkation starts... But with boarding passes in phone and carrying only carry-on I don't see why not you cannot make it to your flight.

First group that get off the ship are the down-line passengers after those guests is when the ship receives general clearance for departure...

Happy sailing

That's a bummer. Was hoping to make use of that $100 fee this Nov. Will still be in line early enough but by no means have THAT early of a flight. 10:45 AM for us.

I honestly believe you will make it.

Will it be easy? No. Will it be stressful? Yes!

We made a 9:30 flight when we disembarked at 8:15 in tampa. That was an hour and fifteen minutes and it looks like you have a similar time line. Was supposed to disembark at 8, but it ran late. I will tell you though, we are in our 20's and we were physically running down the ramps off the ship, through the terminal, out to the taxi stand, and through the airport. We probably looked very rude as we darted through and past people. It was not fun, but I do think it's do-able, and it is a fun story once you successfully make it on.

However, we did check our luggage so late (~5-10 min prior to take off) they weren't sure if would make it to our destination. For the record, it did make it. Would I recommend it- NO, but do I think it can be done- YES.

We apparently got cocky because on our upcoming cruise we selected a 10am flight too. When you're on a mission, you can get it done. I bet you make it!

Also of note: We waited through the regular security line, did not have priority disembarking, etc. Just regular old all by ourselves. We were very early in the line to get off the ship though, because we knew we had to fly! I think we were in line by 530am, maybe 6.
