Liberty of the Seas

Just returned from an enjoyable seven days aboard the Liberty of the Seas. I experienced the quickest check ever. The new port facility in Galveston was efficient other than the long walk to claim your luggage at the end of the cruise. I had one bad experience aboard when a Windjammer waiter was annoyed that I asked him to retrieve a glass of lemonade for myself. The glass was literally slid across the table and my "thank you" was not acknowledged by him. Other than this one issue, the cruise was great and I was awarded my diamond level certificate at the end of the cruise. Staff was wonderful and always had a smile.:)

Sailed Liberty twice in 2 months. It had hands down the best staff I've encountered on Navigator, Independence, Emerald Princess...

If you sail Liberty find Frank. He's a waiter in the MDR. He sings Deep in the Heart of Texas. Easily more entertaining if he is your server than ANY show put on or headline performer.

Hmm that doesn't sound like the usual service we've had in the past. The only thing I can think of is it's typically the drinks are semi self service at a station. You usually go and get your own drink (pre poured into glasses by staff) and maybe that is why you got that reaction from him?

On my cruises they were constantly up your rear with trays of drinks and cookies constantly. It was almost too much.

We are just off the Liberty. The port up grade was amazing beautiful and clean. Fast check in and easy boarding. You do have to walk aways to clear customs but it was a easy down hill slope.

The only bad experience but not enough to spoil the cruise was the diamond lounge.

Can you comment on the Diamond Lounge experience and how crowded it was....also, will they let you take your drink outside to the other lounge as our friends traveling with us are not Diamond Members.....Thanks!

I was on board and I can second this. A mosh pit with no table service, and a drink line that went across the lounge and out the door into the Olive or Twist. Long waits. Drink line crowded along in front of the appetizers so you had to push through/past to get any snacks. And forget getting a seat in there unless you came very early. Lots of negativity and complaining (but hey, what am I doing?) We were there 4 times for cocktails and breakfast, and no staff greeted us in any way. Worst diamond lounge experience ever, but we just went to plan B. We wrote off the DL after 2 days and found our favorite bartender Roger in Boleros. Much better experience on board when we just went elsewhere. DL was certainly not a "perk" this trip.

They had to let you take your drinks out as there was rarely an open seat, and many sat in the Olive or Twist. Very crowded this sailing, but I cannot recall the counts for D and up...

Can you obtain a drink from another bar and bring it into the Diamond Lounge. I know those 3 FREE drinks on the Sea Pass are good during any time during the hours the DL is open for Cocktail hours. Why wait in a long line....

Who was the Diamond Concierge on board and did they try to correct the situation?

In the past we've had great service in the Diamond Lounge.

Donna

He came by once an spoke to us other them that no just walked around . The Concierge Club is now Suites Only! Everyone from Diamond and above is crammed into the diamond lounge. My personal option is that the rug has been pulled out from under the C/A members. Just my thought on the subject.

You were never promised anything, even the rug.... what is wrong with the CL/SL for suites only? Don't they pay for this PERK? Its not FREE for suite guest, it's included in their suite cabin price. It's like you try to shame that Suite Lounge, or CL...

As Bob said, it was no problem buying a drink elsewhere. I bought drinks in the adjacent Olive or Twist (I had a package and DW used Diamond drinks). But unless you were one of the 'fortunate' ones to have a seat in the lounge there was no reason not to just drink it out where you got it. Many did crowd into the lounge and carry out some Tapas to enjoy in the slightly less crowded bar.

There was just no opportunity for any relaxing conversation in the DL this time, which is why we like to go there. It was way too loud and chaotic to be enjoyable. Mad crush just to fight for a chair and get our drink on??? No thanks. Good news is we were lucky to find a great bartender, Roger, down in Boleros, so we relocated there for the rest of our cruise happy hours.

I saw in a different thread there were 650+ d and above on Liberty, so the system was just overwhelmed.

Someone asked the Concierge name, and I believe it was Jorge, but not certain.

Thanks for your review - we sail on LOS 10/9/2016. What did you do in port, specifically in Roatan? Still deciding on that one. How were the beds? I've heard they are terribly firm. What time did you arrive at the terminal for embarkation?

You didn't ask me, but here's our take.

We really enjoyed Little French Key in Roatan. Not an RCI offering. Many reviews on CC about it, but if you like beach days, I highly recommend it.

For the first time we found the beds uncomfortably hard. Woke up with a back ache most mornings.

We drove in and got there about 1:00 and pretty much walked straight on and went directly to our cabin. Boarding began late morning, but not sure what time. If you do get there when they first let you on you have to schlepp your carry on luggage around until they open the rooms at 1ish.

Just off LB Sept. 18. There were over 500 D and D+ on the Sept. 11 sailing. No way to have a comfortable cocktail hour in the D Lounge. Nothing Jorge, the D concierge, could do about that. He did what he could, but the numbers were overwhelming. The is no concierge lounge on LB. There is a Suite Lounge that is only for Pinnacles and suites guests. It is very, very nice and usually not too crowded, but on that cruise it was pretty busy. Debarkation was the best we have ever experienced. As Pinnacle, we were escorted off the ship at 8:08 AM. All the self assists were already off and some still in the terminal. The Suite and Pinnacle luggage was just in front of us as we debarked and two customs lines had been designated for us only. We were in the bus to Hobby at 8:27 AM. Embarkation had been a breeze as well.

Hi, I can't tell you about Roatan excursion, however I can tell you about the beds! They are as everyone say, terrible! I've been on lots of cruises and this is the first time I couldn't sleep because of the bed. And yes we had a topper, still bad.

I can also give you our timeline on embarkation: at 10:55 we were getting off the bus from EZcruise, at 11:15 we were through security, at 11:30 we finished our paperwork and at 11:40 ( I walk slowly) we were eating at Sorrento's!!!!!

Hope that helps! :D

BTW, I forgot to mention debarkation was a breeze also! At 7:20 we were cleared by customs, at 7:30 we were on the bus back to EZcruise!!! (We self assisted)
