Bidding for Haven/Upgrades

We are on the Escape, 4/15 sailing.

They have improved the Escape H2 over the GA or BA. You can put 6 in it, there is a separate bedroom, the movable wall has been replaced, they separated the front and side balcony (could be good or bad but at least the crazy door between the front and the side balcony won't be an issue on the Escape).

They have the fake wood flooring which I'm sure is easier for them to clean but not as nice as carpet.

The Escape H2 is basically a H4 on steroids and you'll get unlimited in room water and soda.

How much are they asking to upsell?

The bid range was $500 (poor chance on the dial) to $2000 (excellent) Per person.

They must be accepting bids in case of cancellations. Obviously the H2 people have no place to upgrade to in order for those rooms to be available.

As of the latest pricing the rack rate was $1700 pp diff between those categories.

This bidding has become an obsession. Cruise is in a week. I've got bids in from high poor to mid-low fair on all categories of Haven. Hopefully Monday I'll know. Right now in a spa mini suite. What are my chances about 16 Haven cabins left been watching the inventory every day.

I know! I log into NCL about 20 times per day. I wonder if there is a specific time they send the accepted bids. I liked it better when you called the upsell dept and knew right away.

That is what started this last 2 cruises upsold. Europe penthouse on Epic and Dawn Garden Villa. Oct/nov 16. They release most I understand Mon or Tues before sailing for Haven. I watched the cruise before me and also confirmed on CC by Weds Haven was sold out. I'm with a casino group and 90% booked Haven so really would like to get in. I also have an obsession of not paying full price gotta have a deal!!!

I also am becoming obsessed with this bidding process. When I first heard about bidding last week, I read everything I could find on forums and the Internet.

Two days ago(Thursday) I received my email offer to bid on an upgrade to the Haven, so I spent a lot of time reading everything I could find about the Haven. Last night (Friday), before I went to bed I placed a low bid. I put myself asleep envisioning my wife and I in the Haven.

Here it is Saturday morning, and I'm already checking my email to see if my bid was accepted. I guess the next 42 days will be "waiting for water to boil" on the most extreme level.

In any event, in 42 days from now, my wife and I will be relaxing on a cruise ship. Life is great!

I posted this on another thread but no replies. wondered if anyone with experience in the bidding process can answer if they pull rooms out of being available at a certain point once they know they have enough bids?

Just wondered if they start to fill cabins and take them out of available without assigning them yet based on bids they know they have and then wait til the end to take the top ones?

On my cruise a lot of havens were open just last week and this week a lot of the rooms are now gone - I m not talking a few, I am talking A LOT. I doubt that many people booked a last minute haven at those prices. Maybe a lot of people bid excellent and got assigned already this early? To get into excellent I wouldn't of saved much at all and would of just booked it from the start to get all perks. Even "GOOD" was barely a saving since you don't get "ALL" perks.

I guess I am just wondering if our chances have gone down without so many not available all of a sudden or if that is part of this new bidding process after it starts?

Based on what I'm seeing my guess is they don't take anything out unless they accepted a bid and matched. They may take higher bids earlier. My bids are low and fair and I expect if I am accepted it will be Mon-Tues before the cruise.

We just sailed on the Getaway last week and did successfully "bid up". We got the initial offer email about 2 weeks prior to sailing (originally our TA wasn't participating, so we got this late). We bid "FAIR" and I saw that there were 8 spots left in Haven and then they ALL vanished from the website, I just assumed that we were out of luck. Then 2 days before sailing we hear nothing, but I see our bank account is a whole lot lower and then I pop over to the NCL site and sure enough we had been moved to a Haven Courtyard Suite. MAJOR SCORE! I have also heard of folks learning the good news upon check in, so you never know! I was also told that possibly it is a combination of your bid along with your Latitudes level etc. Good luck everyone :)

Not sure on the final decision. I would imagine they would take that into consideration to maximize their take but others have said the upset line never did. Who knows? I'm guessing it will be straight highest bidder.

My invite included different "starting bids."

On an unrelated note, I notice your MSC things in your signature. I'm considering that for next year but the reviews are sketchy. Did you like them?

Worst cruise line I have ever sailed on!! Stay away.......

My family and I are sailing on the Breakaway Easter Sunday 4/16th.in an aft balcony. Final payment date has pasted. How soon after that will they start sending out bidding emails? Would love to get back in the Haven again.:):D

Hello,

I am booked on the February 26th Getaway. I did not receive the email, but one of my colleagues who is going on the same trip and in the same category did receive it. I contacted NCL (via Facebook and phone reservations number) and have been told it is random as to who receives the email. I am Platinum and my colleague is Bronze, so tier does not seem to count.

I let NCL know that I had hoped the email would be offered to everyone, but it is not. A computer system should be able to send the email and handle the responses, but they apparently don't have the programming set up that way.
