cruznjan Posted October 2, 2016 #51 Share Posted October 2, 2016 I wonder if any of the airlines have issued any warnings about this? They're having passengers turn them completely off. They can't be in airplane mode. Sent from my STV100-2 using Forums mobile app

Thorncroft Posted October 9, 2016 #53 Share Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) The Chinese tried to kill us with lead based paint and contaminated drywall, but failed. Now the South Koreans are putting little bombs, literally in our hands, and actually making us pay for said bombs. They're even selling us bigger bombs to go in our laundry rooms at home. Why are we even worried about Russia and North Korea? Edited October 9, 2016 by Thorncroft

Kevin Posted October 10, 2016 #57 Share Posted October 10, 2016 T-mobile and AT&T have announced they will no longer sell the Note 7. They will also no longer provide replacement phones. Instead you can get a refund or exchange it for any other phone. http://money.cnn.com/2016/10/09/technology/att-samsung-galaxy-note-7/index.html
firemanbobswife Posted October 10, 2016 #58 Share Posted October 10, 2016 Samsung has now halted production on the phone altogether. les37b Posted October 10, 2016 #62 Share Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Apparently there is a rumour that jihadists are using instead of their usual supply of explosives. That of course could just be mocking things being blown out of proportion. Edited October 10, 2016 by les37b
firemanbobswife Posted October 15, 2016 #63 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Hope they ban them on ships too since they are such a safety issue. In case you haven't heard, you can't even bring them on an airplane as of noon tomorrow. Leave them at home or you will be denied boarding. https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/dot-bans-all-samsung-galaxy-note7-phones-airplanes

No such requirement when boarding a ship. Incorrect. You absolutely do go through a metal detector before boarding a ship. You also put your carry on bags through the X-ray machine. Just like the airport. Edited October 15, 2016 by firemanbobswife

firemanbobswife Posted October 15, 2016 #67 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Think you are being a little over dramatic with the "such a safety issue" part. Nonsense. They catch fire and are recalled by the manufacturer and banned from being transported via plane. Fire is no joke on a ship either. Samsung is issuing special fire proof boxes and gloves to customers to return them. Sounds like a pretty legit danger to me. https://www.google.com/amp/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN12C22U?client=safari

glrounds Posted October 15, 2016 #72 Share Posted October 15, 2016 I would be interested to know what ports also. I also can't remember boarding a ship without going through a metal detector (at least since 9/11)
ducklite Posted October 15, 2016 #73 Share Posted October 15, 2016 This isn't just for US ports. I have taken three cruises which began and ended in ports outside of the Western Hemisphere on ships which never see US ports, and there have been metal detectors on all embarkations including port calls. I think Nerd is either mistaken, outright lying, or has never been in a cruise except maybe a dinner cruise in some river or lake someplace. That aside, anyone still trying to defend the Galaxy Note 7--let alone still using one--must be delusional if they don't see the inherent risk and danger. Kevin Posted October 15, 2016 #74 Share Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) Even Samsung has given up on the Note 7 and killed off the product line. The phone will gone down in history as a $5.3 billion loss for Samsung. The DOT has also out right banned the phone from airplanes. https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/dot-bans-all-samsung-galaxy-note7-phones-airplanes Rumors are that the Note 7 was rushed to production in order to beat the iPhone 7 to market. There are rumors now that the Galaxy S8 is being rushed to fill the gap left by the Note 7. Wall Street is hailing the move. Idiots on Wall Street and at Sumsung. ducklite Posted October 15, 2016 #75 Share Posted October 15, 2016 By the way, I was on a WN flight which ended up delayed Thursday night because some idiot refused to turn off his Note 7, claiming it wasn't a problem because he had never had a problem with it. SMH. He was finally escorted off the plane by the police. Thanks Mr. Entitled Stupidhead for making me miss my tight connection and get home at 1:30 am when I had an 8:00 am meeting in my office yesterday. I hope you end up with a booger hanging out of your nose next time you are meeting with your biggest client.
