Langley Cruisers Posted October 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Yes, a fall storm rolled through last night knocking out power to many thousands. It is still very windy this morning. Sorry you can't dock. :(
Funbobby68 Posted October 7, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Yes just catching up on the news now , seas were a bit ruff last night , not terrible just rocky , they have now opened the shops onboard, not a good sign IMO Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Langley Cruisers Posted October 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Wondering how this plays out for royal as this is our foreign port on this sailing I was just thinking that, but I recall reading somewhere the minimum port stay to satisfy this requirement is 59 minutes? Someone else may chime in here about that; I couldn't find that info online. You might dock but no one will be permitted to leave the ship. Let us know. :)
novalab Posted October 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2016 Been texting back and forth with my daughter that is currently with you all on Explorer. She told me the ship was able to dock but all excursions have been cancelled. They had been looking foreword to their zip line excursion for months. They do realize that RC has no control over the weather. She said they might not get off the ship as customs was going really slow and by the time they get off, there would not be enough time to do anything. Too bad the ship couldn't stay a little longer in port.
Funbobby68 Posted October 7, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted October 7, 2016 We ended up staying aboard as well , just seamed to have lost enough time to not make the effort worth wild Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Shame you didn't get off the ship. Amazing city.
chengkp75 Posted October 7, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 7, 2016 PVSA requirements for a foreign port can be waived due to weather.

WayTea Posted October 8, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Captain extended our stay to 7pm, but we are still docked here in Victoria. I went ashore at 1.45 pm and we had truly glorious weather for our walk into the city.

N2FunCruising Posted October 8, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 8, 2016 We were just there last Thursday (9-29-16) and fortunately we were able to dock but it was really windy and cold at the pier with the wind coming off the water. For those who didn't get to go ashore you missed one of the cleanest and nicest large towns I have ever been in. Sorry that you missed a great experience. davekathy Posted October 8, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) We were in Vitoria September 2015 on the Jewel and this September on the Explorer. Both visits we had beautiful weather. We really enjoyed our visits there. Walked in and back to the ship along the water. Beautiful city. While we there (22 September) the city was preparing for Prince William and the family.
