jonbgd Posted October 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) On the Carnival Miracle It was the first night of the cruise Sept 24 My friend was on his first cruise ever, after years of me bragging about Carnival:rolleyes: He had decided to do a cruise, instead Tahoe or Vegas, as he usually does for his B=Day, for the last 10 years This was on Saturday night Embarkation day His Bday dinner that he pre-paid for SO he followed suggested attire of Cruise Casual from the Capers and showed up to the Steakhouse and was denied service. He was in dress shorts, closed toe shoes and a collared shirt WTH:confused::eek: Edited October 16, 2016 by jonbgd

While not positive, I think all cards we have received in our cabin prior to going to the steakhouse have said no shorts. I know that we have been posts here that the steakhouse follows the MDR, just stating our history. Sent from my iPhone

You can do Khaki's or Slacks but not dress shorts or jeans.

tef43 Posted October 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Per the Carnival website: Dress Code is Cruise Elegant. Jeans allowed on Cruise Casual evenings. That would seem to preclude "dress shorts" at *any* time.

jonbgd Posted October 16, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted October 16, 2016 First night of cruise, they have always been lax on attire, even years ago Also on Carnival, in the past 8years I don't remember them enforcing a dress code at all

I also wonder if you friend read the MDR dress code in the Funtimes instead of the Steakhouse.

Seany527 Posted October 16, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 16, 2016 I've been able to get away with shorts on cruise casual nights in the mdr, Jiji and Cucina. One night in Aruba the steakhouse had a sign stating shorts would acceptable as well.

skrufy Posted October 16, 2016 #16 Share Posted October 16, 2016 The sreakhouse does not allow shorts no matter what day it is. Its an elegent dining experience. If shorts were allowed the next would be why not tee shirts, then why not sandels. I wore dress shorts to the MDR about 5 years ago and no one said a word. I see shorts every once in a while, along with flip flops and sandels, and an occasional tee shirt.

You can't wear shorts to the steakhouse.

louanne93 Posted October 16, 2016 #20 Share Posted October 16, 2016 The Miracle does enforce the dress code both in the steak house and in the MDR. One of the many things we love about her!
mabones Posted October 16, 2016 #21 Share Posted October 16, 2016 The Steakhouse has always been "no shorts". About 5 years ago one gentleman in our party tried shorts but was turned away. I hope your friend changed to pants & went back to the eat!
